Mr. James M. Leggat Sr.

James Michael Leggat, Sr. was born in London, England August 10, 1938, and went to be with the lord on December 7, 2022, at the age 0f 84. His parents, James Leggat (deceased), and Bridget Fitzpatrick Leggat (deceased), had four children with James being the oldest. They all immigrated to the United States on the Queen Elizabeth when he was 10 years old and landed on Ellis Island. While living in New York, he had a successful singing career under the stage name Kelly Troy. He shared the stage with Brenda Lee, Neil Sedaka, Neil Diamond, and other big names at the time. He was then drafted into the Army he went willingly and was proud to serve his country. The Army stationed him at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and then Fort McPherson in Georgia and he lived the rest of his life in Georgia. While in the Army, he met the love of his life, Margaret Rogers Leggat who went by, “Peggy” (deceased), and they had four children. James was survived and loved by his children and their spouses, James Michael Leggat, Jr, David Dennis Leggat, and Kellie Leggat, Shannon Christopher Leggat and Kim Leggat, Melanie Margaret-Geneva Long, and John Long. His siblings, Bridget Middlebrook (deceased) and Edward Middlebrook (deceased), Dennis Leggat (deceased), Michael Leggat and Madeline Bellieu, his brother-in-law and Sister-in-Law, James Leroy Rogers, Jr, and Jacquelyn “Jackie” Rogers. Also, Grandchildren - Tyler Christopher Leggat, Devin Matthew Leggat, and Sarah Leggat, Ashlyn Grace Leggat, Hannah Faith Leggat, Allie Taylor Leggat, Jacob Robert Leggat, Amelia Elizabeth Long, Olivia Margaret Long, plus nephews, nieces and friends. James was always optimistic and never met a stranger. He gave words of encouragement and always inspired people to “go for the gusto”! He was always thankful for what he had and taught those around him to be as well as to give God the glory. He had an unshakeable faith which he developed in his younger years as an altar boy in London. He was happy-go-lucky and always loved family gatherings, golf, fishing, music, watching football, and life in general. We are honored to celebrate his life, his love, and his legacy.
