First Lady Helen Fowler

Mrs. Helen Grace Riley Fowler was born in Decatur, GA in Dekalb County on June 9, 1941 to the late Deacon Seals Riley and Ella Benton Riley. Helen was educated in the Dekalb County School System, attending Avondale Elementary School, which later became Robert Shaw Elementary School. After graduating from Elementary School, she attended and graduated from Hamilton High School. Helen also attended and graduated from ITC (Interdenominational Theological Center), completing and graduating with a Certificate of Theology from their continuing education program. Helen was a born again, dedicated and committed Christian who loved God, her church and her family. She served the Big Miller Grove Baptist Church for over seventy years. She served in the Education Ministry, in the Sunday School Department as a Sunday School Teacher, and Vacation Bible School Teacher. She sang in the R. Bryant Choir and the Senior Choir. Helen served for over forty-one years as 1st Lady of the Big Miller Grove Baptist Church, where she coordinated many activities and assisted Bishop Fowler in his Ministry. Helen was a classy dresser, having many outfits and hats that turned heads as she passed by. She was very family oriented, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her husband. Helen transitioned from this life to her eternal rest on Tuesday December 18th after having lived a full life, a blessed life, a happy life. She is survived by a loving husband, Bishop Miles E. Fowler, 3 daughters; Minister Pamela Jones (Mike), Cerina Renee Fowler and Lawanna Nechelle Boston. She was preceded in death by her loving son, Minister Timothy Miles Fowler (Iris). She also has 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life service for First Lady Helen Fowler, will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Big Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church 3800 Miles E. Fowler Way Lithonia, GA 30038. First Lady Fowler will lie in-state at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. She will be laid to rest at Hillandale Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 10:00 AM-8:00 PM with a Time of Reflection service starting at 6:00 PM at Gregory B. Levett Funeral Home SOUTH DEKALB CHAPEL.
