Gloria Emeline Gilpin

Gloria Emeline Gilpin Was born to Theophilus and Sarah Joseph in the parish of Portland, Labor Hill, Jamaica, West Indies. She was raised by her grandmother Lydia Joseph who was a very strict and dedicated Christian. Gloria attended the Anglican Church of England, in Birnamwood, Portland, where she also attended school. Gloria was known and loved by her family, neighbors and friends. She assisted in the delivery of babies in the neighboring district. A young man from the parish of St. Thomas named Hubert M. Gilpin asked for her hand in marriage at the age of 19. Gloria was united in holy matrimony and relocated to Kingston, Jamaica. Gloria and Hubert had a total of 7 children as a result of this union. As the children grew, she went out to work as an office assistant for Mr. Laifoot, a local businessman. Gloria was very experienced in the arts and crafts: crochet, knitting, and sewing infant attire. Embracing her Jewish heritage, she ensured that her children attended Mountain View Seventh Day Baptist Church, to observe the Sabbath. Gloria was a very kindhearted person who always put her family first, sacrificing her time and energy over herself. Her love and dedication to her family was evident in everything she did. Throughout her life, Gloria faced many challenges with grace and resilience. She had a strong spirit and unwavering faith that guided her throughout her difficult times, always keeping her focus on God. She loved to sing and hum spiritual songs as she went throughout her days. One of her favorite songs was Abide with Me, and favorite scriptures included: Psalms 23, 27, 103 and Our Father Who art in Heaven. With gratefulness, under the sponsorship of her in-laws Eric & Leonie Gilpin, Gloria immigrated to Brooklyn, NY, where she worked and sponsored her husband and seven children overtime. After many years of working and raising her children to adulthood, she retired and moved to Florida where her care was taken over and assumed by her second daughter, Marlene. After many years of fun laughter and great memories, they moved to Georgia in 1998. Over the last years of her life, Gloria was joined by her youngest daughter Laurice and grandchildren Mark, Mary-Ann & Ezra to assist with her care. Gloria leaves behind cherished memories to her children: Horace S. Gilpin, Dolphy A. Gilpin, Beverly D. Gilpin-Hall, Marlene A. Gilpin & Laurice K. Gilpin. She now joins her beloved husband Hubert M. Gilpin, two sons: Adolph H. Gilpin and Kirk P. Gilpin. And a grandson: Isaiyah Wright in the Lord's loving arms In total Gloria had: Six Siblings- Donald, James, Nathaniel, Cleveland, Benjamin, Naomi. Seven Children- Horace S. Gilpin, Adolph H. Gilpin (deceased), Dolphy A. Gilpin, Beverly D. Gilpin-Hall, Kirk P. Gilpin (deceased), Marlene A. Gilpin, Laurice K. Gilpin. Eight Grandchildren- Leighton, Stacy, O’Neil, Steven, Laurice Osborne, Mark-Anthony, Mary-Ann and Crystal. Eleven Great Great Grandchildren- Lacaiya, Isaiyah (deceased), Denayah, Aniyah, Alanna, Sacred, Talis, Ezra, Miracle, Lailah, Amir. One Great,Great,Great Grandchild- Legacy. Also to grieve: Brother in-law- Eric Gilpin (deceased). Sister In- Law- Leonie Gilpin. Nephew in-laws - Lenox Gilpin & Lloyd Gilpin (deceased). Nieces- Marlene, Merrett, Pauline & Millie. Nephews- Danny (deceased), Ruddy & Mark. Grand Nieces- Serena & Kerrianne. Grand Nephew- Phillip, Clifton, Christopher, Paul, Brandon & Jonathan (deceased). Great Grand Nieces- Saraya & Oregon. Great Grand Nephews- Jahmani & Micajah. Daughter in-law- Norma Gilpin. Son in-law-Clive Hall. Sister in-laws- Auldeen Sampson & Edith Atkinson. Brother in-laws- Curtis Anderson & James Anderson.
