Glenda Jean Atkinson

In lieu of flowers for Glenda Atkinson please donate to ASPCA-Atlanta, or American Cancer Society Atlanta Glenda Wallace Atkinson was the only child of Mayzelma and Eugene Wallace born in Lawrence, Kansas. She attended Lawrence Public Schools and Kansas University located in Lawrence. She later moved from Lawrence and lived in many places during the time she was a military wife. She was proudly the mother of two sons, Ernest and Eugene Clayton. Glenda began her employment career with the Bell System and later retired from AT&T in 1989. She was blessed to be able to transfer to different positions while living in various cities. She retired in Denver, Colorado, as a Human Resources Manager, a position she truly loved. In 1992 she moved to Lithonia, Georgia, and became employed with Encompass Insurance, a subsidiary of Allstate. During this time, she met and married her beloved husband of 28 years, Morris Atkinson, she enjoyed becoming the stepmother to three sons, Mark, Shun, and Quan. Glenda was a faithful member of Greenforest Community Baptist Church. She served as a volunteer in Feed the Homeless and Cancer Ministries. She was also a member of the Celestial Choir and the New Beginnings Fulfillment Hour. As her battle with Cancer worsened, she always kept the faith realizing that God was without exception her best Doctor. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband Morris - a wonderful caregiver and companion. Two sons, Ernest (Norma) Clayton of San Diego, CA., Eugene (Larry) Clayton of Lithonia, GA., F. Mark (Tarita) Johnson, of Ellenwood, GA., Shun Atkinson of Smyrna, GA., and Quan Atkinson of LaGrange, GA. Two grandchildren, Jontai Clayton of Indianapolis, IN. and Ernest Clayton of Chicago, IL. Step grandchildren Justin and Jasmyn of Ellenwood, GA., and Jaxon of Lithonia, GA., Alen of AZ., and great grandchildren living in IN, OH, and TN. A most loving Goddaughter Tangie Gray of Covington, GA. Cousins Carol (Grover) Saunders of Kansas City, MO., and Marsha Washington of Wichita, KS. Sister-in-law Liz (Crawford) Lee of Jonesboro, GA., and a host of friends and family members. Glenda was blessed to enjoy life during her time on this earth, but she has a new territory to explore as she has readied herself to meet her maker, IT IS GOD'S PLAN.
