Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 12-8pm at our South Dekalb Chapel. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Metro City Church 999 Briarcliff Rd NE. Due to COVID-19, a mask will be required to enter our building. We really appreciate your help during this difficult time for our family. OBITUARY Our beloved Georgia “Mae” Alexander passed away on Sunday August 7, 2022. She was born on February 12, 1940, the daughter of Reverend John F. and Luecile Hines in Lone Oaks, GA who preceded her. Siblings who preceded her are Harold Hines, John Robert Hines, Christine Thrash, Ella Belcher, Mary (Willie) Clayton and Rollie Stevens. Georgia is survived by a devoted and loving husband, John Walter Alexander. Two daughter’s Carla (Neal) Thomas, Sonja (LaMarquis) Jefferson and the grandchildren whom she cherished, Christopher M. Thomas, Sidney N. Thomas, LaMarquis (Brenae) Jefferson and Lyric M. Jefferson. Siblings Charlie Frank Hines, Joseph (Janie) Hines, Cynthia Bell, Floretta (Freedie) Smith, JoAnn Stevens and Robert Stevens and a host of nieces and nephews. After graduating from Greenville Consolidated High School in Greenville, GA in 1960, she was employed with the United States Government Centers for Disease Control Agency (CDC) and retired after 40+ years of service. Georgia Alexander was a devoted member of The Way The Truth and the Life Christian Center in Decatur, GA. There she was ordained as an Elder, served as an usher, new members teacher, bible study teacher and intercessor. She deeply valued her commitment to serving The Lord. She was very encouraging, trustworthy, and highly respected by everyone she encountered. She was incredibly passionate about her family, and she always made sure you knew who they were. Georgia became a mother figure to many because of her giving, caring and selfless soul. If you knew her, her favorite phrase was “Fall in love with Jesus!” This mighty woman of God will be truly missed. The memories that we hold near and dear in our hearts will never be forgotten. Georgia, according to 2 Timothy 4:7 (TPT) You have fought an excellent fight. You have finished your full course with all your might and you kept your heart full of faith.
