With heavy hearts and profound gratitude, we announce the passing of Freddy Perez, a gifted chef, loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who departed this world on November 1, 2024, at 9:12 p.m. How symbolic it is that Freddy, born on September 12, completed his earthly journey at 9:12—a fitting and divine connection that reflects the life of a man who left an indelible mark on so many lives. Freddy’s culinary journey spanned over three decades, and his talent was unmatched. From his early days in the bustling kitchens of New York, Seattle, San Francisco, and Atlanta, to his role as Director of Dining in healthcare, Freddy’s dishes brought joy and inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to experience them. His innate culinary insight allowed him to dissect flavors with precision, discerning every detail from preparation methods to seasoning. Freddy’s culinary creations didn’t just nourish the body; they warmed the heart. Beyond his artistry in the kitchen, Freddy had an even greater gift—a heart that knew no limits. Always ready to offer a helping hand or a comforting meal, he was a steady presence in times of need. Freddy’s conversations were full of laughter, encouragement, and wisdom. He brought joy, guidance, and support, often leaving those he spoke with feeling uplifted and inspired. Freddy is survived by his beloved wife, Rashawn Cooper Perez; his daughter, Nia Perez (Rodric); his mother, Felicita Cruz; his mother-in-love, Juanita Graves Cooper; and his siblings: George Figueroa, Ralph (Yaritza) Pacheco, Joey (Toshiba) Rodriguez, and Jessica (Eric) Morales. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister-in-love, Brandie Cooper; brother-in-love, Brandon Cooper; his Lakeside family; and a vast circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He joins in eternal rest his precious daughter, Zaire Mack, and his father-in-love, Ray Cooper. Freddy’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, located at 914 Scenic Hwy S, Lawrenceville, GA 30045. The service will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, where friends and family will gather to honor and cherish the memory of a man who shared so much light and love. The repast will follow the burial at an undisclosed location provided to family and friends. In his spirit, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness, joy, and culinary brilliance. May Freddy’s soul rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire those he loved and served so wholeheartedly.
