Erin Lynn Lannen

Erin Lynn Lannen, 38, of East Point, GA, passed away peacefully in her home on March 18, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Erin was born on May 22, 1984, to Tammie White Smalley and Keith Smalley in Riverdale, GA. She married the love of her life, Kevin Lannen, on March 2nd, 2009. Erin was a talented writer who made a significant impact in her community as the Communications and Event Marketing Manager for the ATL Airport District. A lifelong learner, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Georgia, a M.A. in Community Psychology and Social Change from Penn State University, and a M.A. in Writing and Digital Communications from Agnes Scott College. Erin loved to explore new places and endeavored to visit as many national parks as she could following her cancer diagnosis in 2020. Glacier and Arches were among her favorite national park adventures with Kevin. Other favorite pastimes with her soulmate included attending concerts of their favorite bands, curling up on the couch with their rescue Pitbull, George, to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs, or simply being together without anything in particular to do. Erin and Kevin absolutely adored each other and were happiest when they were together. She had a keen eye for style and design and could pick out any gem to be found in a vintage shop. She enjoyed spending hours browsing stacks of vinyl albums with her mom. Her signature funky glasses and eclectically curated home décor reflected her vibrant and warm personality. Throughout her battle with a rare and relentless cancer, Erin was an open book. She candidly shared the realities of living with an incurable disease with her unique voice and brilliant sense of humor. Her bravery and determination to fight to the very end has been an inspiration to all who knew her. A fierce advocate for social justice, Erin always stood up for those in need. She was thoughtful, outspoken, and passionate, and her love knew no bounds. To honor her dedication to equality, a memorial fundraiser benefiting an organization close to her heart, Lost-n-Found Youth, has been set up to accept donations in lieu of flowers. All who knew and loved Erin are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held on Sunday, April 2nd from 3 – 6 PM at Arches Brewing, located at 3361 Dogwood Dr, Hapeville, GA 30354.
