Emanuel Samil McKinnon

Emanuel Samil McKinnon was born at University Hospital in Newark, Nj on December 23,1988 to Howard McKinnon and Tracy McKinnon. Emanuel departed his life on March 19,2025 at the age of 36 years old. He was baptized at a young age at Unity Freedom Baptist Church in Newark, Nj. Later he joined Unity Freedom Baptist Church. He was educated through the Newark school system and started his education at St.Roccos. Emanuel relocated to Stone Mountain Georgia in May of 1998 with his two loving parents. As a child Mil loved to play football, write poems, take rides in his jeep and he loved to play kickball. Mil wrote his first poem at 8 years old and his poem was published in the Weekly Reader. The Weekly Reader was a school competition for the state of New Jersey. His poetry touched many lives and he later became Emanuel Dapoet. Mil was musically inclined and always had a zest for people and music. At a young age Mil started playing string instruments, then moved on to brass instruments and ended with playing percussion. Mil also wrote music. He learned to play the piano and the trumpet but enjoyed playing drums more than anything. Mil got his first job at 16 years old at American Deli where he worked throughout High School. His next job was working at Dunbar security working at the Atlanta world congress center. After high school Mil went back to Stone Mountain High School to help give back to the band. He was the assistant for the Stone Mountain High School band. He was responsible for helping students perfect their craft in percussion. Mil also was a summer camp instructor for Morris Brown College’s band. At the end of the summer they would do a big performance called “Cream Drumline.” Emaunel also had an all women's kickball team. His team was called the “Raging Rubies”. Mil loved to bowl and was in a bowling league. He would go to Stars and Stripes bowling alley to bowl with friends. Emanuel worked for Brinks for many years until. He started there as a hopper, then moved on to dispatch. He also was working in the vault as his last job. He traveled from state to state to train and help other branches. Emaunel was very hard working and was dedicated to his work at Brinks. He loved working at Brinks with friends. Emanuel leaves to cherish his memories to his parents Howard McKinnon(GA) and Tracy McKinnon(GA). His Grandmother Bessie McGrady(NJ). His two siblings Dontay McKinnnon(MI) and Jackie Lumford(MA). His Aunts and Uncles: Cathy Mcgrady Johnson (Eric, NJ), Bernice Martin (NJ), Margaret McKinnon(VA), Bloneva McKinnon(GA) and Henry Thomas (Jean, NJ). A host of nieces and nephews. A host of cousins. He is preceded in death by Grandfather Onie McGrady, Grandfather Ben Brown Grandmother Aaran McKinnon, Great Grandmother Nettie Thomas, Aunt Sharone McGrady, Aunt Lois Hawkins, Aunt Patricia McKinnon, Uncle William McKinnon, Uncle Nathaniel McKinnon, Uncle Harold McKinnon and Uncle Freddie McKinnon. Emanuel means God is with us and we know he is now resting with him. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers at this time of bereavement.
