Mr. Elmond Jones

Elmond was born in Waynesboro, MS on January 15, 1940 to the late Johnnie and Mary Britton Jones. Some of his most admirable qualities was his loyalty and love for his family. When he was a young man, he ventured out and bought a house for his parents & younger siblings, and relocated the family to Hialeah, FL. He found work as a dishwasher, but being the hard worker that he was, he worked his way up in the Hospitality Industry becoming an Executive Culinary Chef. He also met his future wife Mary (Lucy) while living in Hialeah. Elmond & Lucy spent a lot of their time enjoying the beaches of Miami. They would soon leave the sunny weather of Hialeah & head up north to make a new life in Albany, NY. Elmond started working at Joe’s Caterers where he became known as “Jonesy” and the best chef in town. He later went to work for Sodexho (formerly Daka). He received many awards and recognition for his culinary excellence throughout his career. Cooking was a passion that he loved to share with his family & friends. He enjoyed blues & soul music and hanging out with his friends. However, the most important thing to him was spending time with his family. Elmond is predeceased by his brothers, Johnnie, Staten, J.D. and Cecil Jones, sisters Daisy Howard, Ada Mae Cooley, Dorothy Jean Carlisle, and grandson Shaquille Jones. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary (Lucy) Jones, his sons Elmore (Isabel) Jones, David (Tecorla) Jones, his daughters Beverly and Diane Jones, brother Al (Diane) Jones, dear nephew Larry (Brenda) Jones, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 11:00 AM at our Gwinnett Chapel 914 Scenic Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30045. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM at our Gwinnett Chapel 914 Scenic Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30045. Interment is private.
