Edward Cage

Deacon Edward Cage, the eldest of two children was born February 28, 1952, in Washington D.C. to the parents of Elbert Cage and Henrietta Ragin Cage. His education began at Parkview elementary School. He attended Banneker Junior High School and after graduating he attended Cardozo Senior High School where he graduated in 1970 and received an athletic scholarship to Virginia State University Ed enjoyed his college days at VSU but due to the illness of his mother he went back to DC to assist with her care. He continued to complete his education at Howard University College of Engineering. Ed did not stop there he furthered his education at Shorter University here in Atlanta Georgia where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. Ed was employed by IBM for 7 years in DC and he also was employed at the US Postal Service for 3 years after which he moved to Tortola British Virgin Islands where he was manager over the Seaplanes for 3 years. After his tenure there he moved back to the States where he was employed by Southern Copy/Ricoh where he retired after 32 years of service. Ed was the manager of DeKalb County Voting Precinct for over 20 years, and he worked for Phillips Arena for over 10 years. Ed met the love of his life in 1988. He called her his Angel, and they were married July 31, 1993. He was a loving and devoted husband and stepfather to their son Kevin. Ed had a very genuine love for June words could never express the passion, joy, laughter, and strong feeling of oneness they shared towards one another. A few years after marriage he began attending church with his wife, he accepted the Lord as his personal savior he was a born-again believer in Jesus Christ our Lord. He was totally committed to God. He was a dedicated member, Sunday School Teacher, after school program instructor, and Chairman of Deacons at St. James Overcoming Deliverance Church, Inc. He loved and served his pastor and first lady with great diligence. The impact Deacon Cage left on his coworkers, church family, extended family, and friends will never be forgotten. Deacon Cage transitioned from this life August 7, 2024, to an eternal life of rest. He leaves to cherish his joyful unforgettable memories to his loving and devoted wife June, his sister Zemorial Skerritt (Verant) and his mother-in-law whom he loved dearly Mother Susie C. White, beloved sister n’ laws, godchildren LaToia Turnbull, Ashley Cheney, Jada Fuller, and Jordan Walker. Zakiah Cage and Michael Lewis niece and nephew from Washington D.C. Also a beautiful collection of nieces and nephews from Georgia and Washington, D.C. and a host of relatives and friends.
