Dr. Latonya Hendricks-Carter

Dr. Latonya Hendricks-Carter was born to Willie and Mae Hendricks on January 6, 1981. Latonya was wed in holy matrimony to Patrick A. Carter on August 17, 2014. She went home to rest with our Heavenly Father on January 29, 2017. Latonya graduated with honors from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She completed her post-baccalaureate degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Il. She later attended Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA where she earned her degree as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD where she received the Outstanding Provider of the Year Award in her final year of training. Latonya’s unwavering perseverance throughout her studies led her to be consistently recognized with many accolades and awards of excellence at each academic program that she was enrolled in, the residency program she completed, and every medical facility at which she worked. Dr. Hendricks-Carter was a board certified Emergency Medicine physician who had the opportunity to serve in the emergency departments for several hospitals, including Atlanta Medical Center and Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Her extensive knowledge of and dedication to the medical profession helped her touch countless lives. Latonya was also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She represented the sisterhood of college-educated women well in her commitment to the constructive development of herself as well as others and in her commitment to public service, taking extra care to focus on our African-American community. Latonya made an unforgettable impact not only on the lives of those under her medical care, but also those that she came into contact with on a daily basis. Her legacy is marked by her tireless work ethic, determined character, and fighting spirit (in addition to an unbridled love of shoes!) and will forever live on in the hearts of those who adore her. Latonya’s memories will be cherished by many, but especially by her beloved husband, Patrick Carter; her loving parents, Willie & Mae Hendricks; her sister and protector, Monica Hendricks; a very special niece, Kendall King; and a host of other wonderful relatives, in-laws, and friends. Celebration Of Life Services will be held 1PM, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Mt.. Nebo Baptist Church & Life Center 1025 McDonough Blvd., SE Atlanta, GA 30315.
