Mr. Douglas Thomas Sanders, III

Douglas Thomas Sanders III: entered eternal rest unexpectedly on June 30, 2023, in his home in Lilburn, GA. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. His departure marks the end of a life well-lived, filled with remarkable experiences and profound connections. Douglas was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 19, 1964, to the late Douglas Thomas Sanders Jr. and Elizabeth Keyes Sanders. He was the third child, but first son of the family and was affectionately known by his family and friends as: “Bubba”; a nickname he received because his sister couldn’t say: “Douglas”. Bubba attended elementary and secondary school in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from Emerson Vocational High School in 1982. After graduation, Bubba immediately followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a Maintenance and Supply Clerk with great pride and pleasure. Upon separation from the Army, Bubba transitioned into the electronics and telecommunications field where he held positions with the NY State Lottery, Cingular Wireless, Erickson, and eventually AT&T where he fulfilled the role of Network Operations Center manager until his death. Bubba loved electronics and electronic gadgets. He possessed many high-end electronic devices so that the picture and sound quality of his favorite music, movies, and TV shows met his discerning taste. In fact, one of his pastimes was to spend hours browsing Best Buy stores looking for the next great gadget. Bubba was also an avid sports fan, particularly of NFL football, where he spent years rooting for the Raiders, whether they were in Oakland, Los Angeles, or Las Vegas. He got great pleasure in playing ‘Monday Morning Quarterback’ after games and had a captive audience in his brothers and sons. Bubba was known as a good friend and mentor to many if they could handle the advice and counsel; ‘straight—no chaser’! Bubba’s greatest joy in life was his family. He cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, creating a loving and nurturing home for his loved ones where he would regularly host movie nights. Bubba was introduced to the LORD in his early years by his mother, Elizabeth, who read the Bible to him and his siblings regularly. He professed his belief in the LORD and actively prayed and meditated on His word. Bubba was preceded in death by his parents; Douglas and Elizabeth Sanders; daughter: Alethia Gabrielle Sanders. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Shayne Sanders of Memphis, TN, Dannen Sanders of Memphis, TN, Nyssa Sanders of Danville, NY, and Zorah (his beloved Great Dane); his siblings: Sylvia Ann Henley, Stephanie Sanders, Dale Sanders, and Kevin Sanders; his grandchildren: Shayne Jr., Noah, Douglas IV, Kairi Rose, and Giovanni, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Rest in peace, dear Bubba. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on forever.
