Dorothy Fay Booker

Dorothy Fay Booker, born on October 1, 1952, in Rutledge, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at 72. Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. Dorothy was the daughter of Louise McTear and the late Johnny Jenkins. She attended Baker High School in Baker, Florida, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong love of learning and community. In 2000, Dorothy married Oliver Booker. They later built a life in Decatur, Georgia, where she became known for her warmth, faith, and generous spirit. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Oliver Booker; her cherished children, Everett Grover (Changreka) of Moreno Valley, California, Latril Grover of Atlanta, Georgia, and Taydra Mathews of Atlanta, Georgia; and her treasured stepchildren, Miya Booker of San Francisco, California, and Derryl Booker of Atlanta, Georgia. She was a proud grandmother to Quonica Bryant, Devaneia Grover, Corrdarius Grover, Latril Grover, Zoé Grover, and Taylor Johnson, and a great-grandmother to her beloved Royce Grover. Dorothy also embraced her five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren with love and care. Her siblings lovingly remember Dorothy: Benny Jackson (Paula) of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Mary Simon (Keith) of Baker, Florida. She was predeceased by her siblings Johnnie Armstrong and John Jackson, who now welcome her into eternal peace. Her extended family includes her living aunts, Lela Giles (George) of Tyrone, Georgia, and Nellie Seawright (Willie) of Luverne, Alabama; her uncle, Henry McTear of Crestview, Florida; as well as six nephews, six nieces, and a host of cousins and lifelong friends. Dorothy dedicated 13 years of her career to Ingram Entertainment, a video distribution company where she worked as a warehouse supervisor and cultivated lifelong friendships. After leaving Ingram in 1998, Dorothy discovered her entrepreneurial spirit and established Heavenly Household Cleaning in 2001, which she ran successfully until 2020. She took great pride in being her own boss and serving her community with excellence and dedication. A devout Christian, Dorothy was an active member of New Jubilee Harvest Church in Decatur, Georgia, where her faith flourished. Her passions included fashion, shopping, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. Dorothy had a remarkable talent for bringing people together, and her home was always filled with laughter, love, and delicious food. Dorothy’s legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and a love for life that inspired everyone around her.
