Dora Mae "Ain Pig" Lucas

Appreciation and Celebration Dora Mae “Ain Pig” Lucas’s story is real. There is absolutely no doubt about her love of God, her abiding passion to care for others with unconditional love and support extended to everyone. Her life’s journey began June 12, 1923 in DeSoto, Georgia to the proud parents of the late Sallie and Homer Darsaw. As a youngster, she attended school in Sumter County, Georgia; eventually settling in Atlanta. She committed her life to Christ at an early age, later became a faithful member of First Corinth Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. She joyously joined multiple choirs and actively participated in the Birthday of the Month Club. Dora married the love of her life James Lee Lucas, who preceded her in death. Many called her “Mom”, Vastile Linder, Bennie Montford, Diane Pitts, Lillie Floyd, and John and Willie Lucas were especially close to her heart Her hands were rarely still……. A trailblazer at a time when few females owned and operated a business, she was a successful entrepreneur. Her life was a living example of a servant heart, demonstrated by her hospitality and open-door policy to anyone needing a place to rest their head. Entertaining in her home was her sanctuary. Having a passion for gardening taught her to nurture the relationships of the people she loved. She leaves her everlasting memories ……. Dora enjoyed music, especially if she was participating. Her signature fashion statement was made on every special occasion, from her sophisticated hats, to her matching purse and shoes. She has been a blessing in our lives, now at peace, her joy for life will continue in our hearts. Preceding her in death were two sisters, “Birdell “Crease” Linder, and Ceola Robinson, three brothers, Willie “Skase” Bivins, Homer “Dan” Darsaw”, and Robert “Bob” Darsaw. She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces (great), nephews (great), family, and friends. Funeral Saturday, July 15, 2017, 2pm at Gregory B. Levett & Sons, Funeral Home, 4347 Flat Shoals Pkwy Decatur, GA., 30034. Visitation Thursday, July 14, 2017 10am-8pm. Burial at Lincoln Cemetery
