Donald Keith Harvey

Donald Keith Harvey was born June 29, 1957, to the late Carl and Essie Mae Armstrong Harvey. Donald was born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was born at Grady Hospital and was considered a “Grady Baby”. Donald was not only a welcomed addition to the Harvey household but was also a welcomed addition to the Smith Household, Rev. Bennie E and Edna, his doting godparents. Donald attended and was a proud graduate of Douglas High School in Atlanta, Georgia. After, much contemplation, Donald decided to attend Georgia State University. He graduated in 1984 from Georgia State and received a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. After graduation, Donald decided that teaching would not be his life’s avocation, but decided to follow his father, Carl, into the profession of Sign Fabrication. Donald opened his own business as a sign maker. He created and designed signs, all around the Atlanta Metropolitan area. He was one of the first sign makers to own and perfect Corel Draw, a computer program to assist in his creativity of designing the signs and logos he became known for. I guess, he was considered a sign guru. In 1996, the year of the World Olympics in Atlanta, Donald married, Shejuan Marie Lewis of New Orleans, Louisiana. To this union was born, a daughter, Shayla Dominique Edna Harvey and a son, Kameron Donald Harvey. Donald loved and admired both of his children and continued to encourage them in the pursuit of higher education until his death. Donald loved his family and loved family holidays and events. Donald loved doing things with his hands, his hands communicated the words that he did not speak. He built furniture and painted beautiful pieces of art; his, legacy will forever live on. Donald leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 26 years, Shejuan Lewis-Harvey, his very loving children, Shayla D E Harvey and Kameron Donald Harvey, brothers, Carl S. Harvey (Wilma), Paul Harvey (Auntie Glenda), Reginald, Anthony, Andrew, and Onesimus Harvey. Sisters Janice Smith (Chip) and Deborah Stone(David), Sisters in laws, Kenette(Derek) Broadwater of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ira Lynn Smith and nephew Nygiel of Richmond, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thank you to our dear friend, Henrietta Kisseih for all of the love and support that you have shown Shayla, Kameron, and myself during this time of loss.
