**Obituary for Dominic Mishun Smith** Dominic was born on December 12, 1968, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Mary A. Smith and the late Robert L. Smith. From the very beginning, Dominic brought a unique spirit into the world—one filled with personality, laughter, determination, and a heart for helping others. Dominic M. Smith passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, resilience, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and community. Dominic attended Fulton High School, where he was an amazing trumpet player and one of the finest drum majors the school had. His musical talent and natural leadership made him stand out among his peers. He proudly graduated with the Class of 1986. Those who knew Dominic knew that he could find the funny in almost anything. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories and was often the one keeping everyone in stitches at family gatherings. His jokes, laughter, playful personality, and unforgettable sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. Dominic was also the person you could always count on when you needed something fixed. Whether it was a problem with your car or something that needed repairing around the house, one phone call was all it took. Dominic would show up and figure it out. Helping others was simply who he was. His love for cars ran deep. Working on cars was more than a hobby—it was a passion and a calling. Dominic would often say that he “needed to smell the oil from the car to put a smile on his face.” That statement perfectly captured the joy he found in working with his hands and solving problems. After graduating from Fulton High School, Dominic continued his education at Morris Brown College. In 1990, at the age of 21, Dominic began his career with the Atlanta Police Department. He graduated from the Atlanta Police Academy as a proud member of Academy Class #139. Dominic served the Atlanta community as a police officer for seven years, demonstrating the same dedication, courage, and willingness to help others that he carried throughout his life. After his years with the Atlanta Police Department, Dominic ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own home renovation and car repair business. His natural ability to repair, build, and create allowed him to continue doing what he loved while helping others. In 2025, Dominic was diagnosed with colon and pancreatic cancer. He faced this difficult journey with remarkable courage, strength, and determination. He fought with everything he had, refusing to allow his diagnosis to define the way he lived his life. Throughout his battle, Dominic continued to demonstrate the resilience, humor, and fighting spirit that had always been a part of him. On April 4, 2025, Dominic married Tiffany Moorer, the love of his life. Their marriage marked a beautiful and meaningful chapter in Dominic's life. During Dominic's battle with cancer, Tiffany stood faithfully by his side and worked tirelessly to care for him until the very end. Her love, devotion, strength, and unwavering commitment were a beautiful testament to the bond they shared. She cared for Dominic with compassion and dedication, ensuring that he was surrounded by love and comfort throughout his final days. Dominic was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tiffany Moorer Smith, and his seven children and four stepchildren: Tatyanna, Kenyetta, Dominic Jr., Daevion, Darrius, Damari, Daijah, Jessica, Jasmine, Leyoni, and Kyle. His legacy also lives on through his five cherished grandchildren, who brought immense joy and love into his life. Dominic shared a special bond with his brother, the late Marquis Smith, as well as his sister, Jacarda Smith. Their relationship was filled with love, laughter, jokes, and playful pranks that created memories that will forever be treasured. He also leaves a close-knit extended family, including** aunts, uncle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends**. Dominic was a passionate supporter of the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Hawks. He cheered for his teams with the same enthusiasm and loyalty that he brought to everything he loved. But perhaps Dominic's greatest legacy was the way he showed up for people. If you need him, you could call him. If something was broken, he would try to fix it. If you were having a bad day, he would probably find a way to make you laugh. And if you were family, you could be certain that he would be there. Dominic's life was a beautiful reflection of love, laughter, service, family, and perseverance. He touched countless lives through his kindness, humor, generosity, talents, and willingness to help others. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, Dominic's laughter will continue to echo through family gatherings, his stories will continue to be told, and his love will continue through the children and grandchildren he leaves behind. Dominic M. Smith was one of a kind. He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, musician, leader, protector, mechanic, and a man who could always be counted on. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27th, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gregory B Levett and Son Funeral Home - Flat Shoals Location in Decatur, Georgia. Dominic’s life will be celebrated during a Celebration of Life service on Friday, August 28th, 2026, at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, GA, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a Repast at the church from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will take place at Kennedy Memorial Gardens in Ellenwood, GA, on Friday, August 28th, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to say their final goodbyes.
