Dolores Camille Cyrus

Celebration of Life for the late Dolores C. Cyrus was born on April 12, 1930 to the late Ernest A. Downing, Jr. and Mary R. Downing in Neptune, N.J. She attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida and was a member of the Beta Alpha Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She and her husband, Charles Cyrus, moved to Tallahassee, Florida in the late 80’s where she was a member of St. Michael’s All Angels Episcopal Church, singing soprano on the choir and served on the Hospitality Committee. She was also a member and sang on the choir of her home church, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Asbury Park, N.J. She loved entertaining, playing canasta, dancing, and listening to music of any kind (blues, gospel, jazz, opera) and singing. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends young and old. Dolores was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles Cyrus (Chuck) and her brother, Ernest Downing III. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Dara, Toni and Donna; grandchildren Bruce, Syna, Chezar, Velita, and Gia; great grandchildren Sarah, Xavier, Roman, Giovanni, Rahman, Nuri and Kamdyn; and great-great granddaughter Aurora and many more beloved family and friends. -Poem- May the peace which comes from the remembrance of love given and love received comfort us always. This world is not conclusion, a sequel stands beyond. Each life is a gift, a treasure that enriches the world and leaves us with precious memories. Every life touches our hearts with its own special beauty and every memory we hold keeps the beauty alive.
