Mrs. Dianne Marie McKinley

August 22, 2022, our beloved Dianne entered into eternal life. Dianne Marie McKinley was born on June 19, 1952, in New Orleans, LA. She was the daughter of the late Douglas Sr. and Ernestine Harris Mims. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended Victory World Church, Norcross, GA at the time of her passing. Dianne graduated from Catholic of Pointe Coupee High School, New Roads, LA. She subsequently graduated from Spencer Community College in Baton Rouge obtaining an AA in Business. Shortly after graduation, Dianne’s desire for adventure caused her to leave the small farming community of Maringouin, Louisiana which she called home, to the big city life of Los Angeles, CA. She worked in various industries before settling into accounting and banking as a career path for many years. Dianne eventually tapped into her creative talents and opened Lady Di’s Gift Shop. In 1973 Dianne married John McKinley. Dianne and John welcomed two daughters (Indie and Diesha) and one son Mekonnen into their world as they lived and worked in Southern California until moving to Atlanta, GA in 1993. They were loving parents to all three instilling in them a work ethic and faith that would enable them to achieve success in their own lives. In Atlanta Dianne worked for many years as an account auditor for Ricoh-USA from which she would retire in 2018. Through all her years, Dianne was always the life of the party. Her smile could light up a room and she loved to dance. She became affectionately known as Lady Di, Lady D and Grandee to her grandchildren. Dianne brought joy into many lives, she had a large heart and will be remembered for being the light in any dark room and making herself available to help anyone in their times of need. Dianne touched many lives by allowing the Holy Spirit to use her, through the gifts she possessed, her wisdom, knowledge, beauty, and compassion. For all those she touched, the experience while different for each, was impactful to all. Her infectious smile and graceful countenance will be remembered, and most assuredly missed by all! Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Warren Mims and sisters, Brenda Coleman, and Ida Mae Wiltz. She is survived by her former spouse, John McKinley, their devoted children, Indie Q. McKinley-Shaffer (Ronn), Mekonnen M. McKinley, Diesha J. Williams (John-Christopher); grandchildren, Jayce Shaffer, R’eyahn Shaffer, Ivan Shaffer, Ivy Shaffer, Mikhail McKinley, Cailyn McKinley, Bryce Williams, Caleb Williams and Deja Williams; brothers, Douglas (Patricia) Mims of Baton Rouge, LA, Donald (Terri) Mims of Menifee, CA and Dwayne Mims of Maringouin, LA; sisters, Mable (Charles) Clayborne of Los Angeles, CA, Wanda Faye (Elvin) Augustus of Maringouin, LA, Sandra (Edward) Flora of Groveland, FL and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
