Debra Rashelle Merrill

Debra Rashelle Merrill was born on May 7, 1964, in Eufaula, Alabama. She departed this life on August 9, 2023, at St. Francis-Emory Healthcare, Columbus, Ga. Debra Rashelle was the first of Tina’s (Mary Alice) girls. She accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully believed that when you put God first, everything else would fall in line. She was educated in the Eufaula City School System and graduated from Eufaula High School with the Class of 1982. After graduating from high school, she relocated to Atlanta, GA. Soon after, she was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Rook Merrill. Within this union, one son was born, Denzel Rashad Merrill. Debra Rashelle worked for Allstate Insurance Company where she was a Commercial Underwriter for 23 years. She continued to receive certificates and trainings to remain an expert in her field. Debra Rashelle retired from Allstate Insurance Company in 2009. After retirement, Debra enjoyed traveling, shopping, dancing, singing, and planning events. Debra loved spending time with her family and friends. Rashelle was definitely the life of the party. She had a smile that was contagious to the world. She had a compassion for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family members, friends and her community. Her passion in the community sector was volunteering to serve the homeless by providing them with hot meals and coats for the winter. Debra was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Rook Merrill; her mother, Mary Alice Wright; sister, Sharon Renea Wright; and grandmother, Rosa Wright Byrd. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted son, Denzel Rashad of Ellenwood, two sisters, Kimberly (John) Lawson, and Leslie Wright of Eufaula, AL; three aunts, Margaret (Tony )Glover of Ellenwood, GA; Denise Banton of Lithonia, GA; Barbara (Lance) Williamson of Springhill, FL; two uncles, Henry Lee(Rose Marie) Wright of Eufaula, AL; Glenn Thomas of Stockbridge, GA; six nieces, Brittany (Xavier) Cruz of Duluth Ga, Mya Adams, Zoe Morris, and Amber Petterson of Eufaula, AL, Vontreesa Clark of Houston, TX , and Benisia Floyd-Kelly of Eufaula, AL; three nephews, Jordan Lawson of Eufaula, Al, Ladarious (Jasmine) Bouier of Montgomery, Al, Dallas Bouier of Eufaula, AL; special cousins, Moneake (Quantez) Dunn of Ellenwood, GA; Sheneake (William) Geter of Stonecrest, GA; Kenyetta Wright and Katrina Wright of Eufaula, Al; Paul Banton of Lithonia, Ga and Kyle Williamson of Stonecrest; father-in-law , Fred Bouier Sr of Eufaula, Al; one brother in-law, Fred (Delisha) Bouier Jr of Eufaula, AL; and special God-nephew Kaleb Wheeler of Eufaula, AL; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
