Obituary Deborah “Debbie” Jean Towner, 68, gained her wings on Thursday, December 7th 2023. Debbie was born in Washington D.C. on January 22, 1955, to parents Joseph and Juanita Howard. Shortly after her birth, Debbie and family moved to New Jersey where she was raised. “Deb” really loved family, friends, and her wigs, more specifically her bangs, but most of all she loved the Lord. Mom was extremely creative and loved to decorate! She could make a sleigh bed out of a cardboard box. I remember her making our clothes as kids, she was an artist who could sketch anything. She loved music and makeup. She could sit in the bathroom for hours fixing her wigs, putting on makeup to her good gospel music playlist. Mom also loved people and all the neighborhood children affectionately called her “Momma”. Momma was a nurturer and always made us feel like we spent a day at Disney, on a $10 budget. We didn’t have a lot growing up, Momma still opened our doors and fed whoever wanted to eat, even though she could not cook a lick. Mom loved to talk and I’m sure everyone in heaven has gotten the scoop already. Although we are all devastated by your absence, we know you are with God because you had faith and believed! You always taught us all to be thankful, to remember we can’t do anything without the Lord and always seek His guidance. She was the loving wife to the late Earl Lee Towner. She is survived by her brother William Walker, sisters Monya Randall and Phyllis Smith. Her four children Tamika Howard, Joseph Howard (daughter in-law Sherell Howard), Tonya Hudson (son in-law Pastor Anthony Hudson) and Katrina Mitchell (son in-law Marcellus Mitchell). Grandchildren Jasmine McCray (son in-law Knorris McCray), Eric Graham, Damond and Deion Howard, Semaar and Josell Howard, Kyla Howard, Jonnay Carter, Quane Holley, and Mitchell Holley. Great-grandchildren Kristian, Knox, Malachi, Maxwell and Kaiori. Debbie is also survived by longtime friends Debbie Love, Jeffery Phillips and a host of other beloved family and friends. We love you Momma and you are FOREVER with us. Services will be as follows: Saturday, December 16, 2023 Tabernacle Baptist Church of Lawrenceville 1046 Hiram Davis Road Lawrenceville GA. 30045 11:00 am - Wake 12:00 pm - Celebration of Life *There will be a balloon release immediately following the service. Repast will be held in the Tabernacle Baptist Fellowship Hall following the balloon release.
