David Wylie

Bravo, a term typically used interjectionally in applauding a stellar performance, is more than befitting in honoring the life of David Jordan Wylie ( also known as Zen). He was an all around performer, a virtuoso, of sorts, with the ability to capture an audience both on and off the stage. David was born on May 25, 1995, in Atlanta, Georgia to James and Adrienne Wylie. It was evident, even at an early age, that he would use his artistry to leave his mark on the world and be an integral part of his community. We witnessed this artistry throughout his matriculation in Gwinnett County Public Schools. After graduating from Meadowcreek High School in 2013, he furthered his studies and training at Morehouse College. His passion for the arts led him to make a shift to pursue his education at the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media. In 2019, he proudly walked across the stage, receiving his degree and embarking on a path that would showcase his remarkable talents and creative spirit. He did it all: act, dance, rap, sing, design, create and innovate. But today, we not only applaud David for his work onstage, but for his work beyond the stage. We applaud him for his capacity to love, his ability to bring joy to a room, and his encouraging spirit and love for others. David possessed an unparalleled sense of humor, wit, and a creative mind that set him apart from the rest. His artistic fashion expertise was admired by many, making him a modern-day Renaissance man. He departed this life on June 25, 2023 and will be profoundly missed. The impact he made on the lives of those who knew him, will endure for generations to come. Beyond his accomplishments, he was a loving son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his parents: James and Adrienne Wylie, who cherished his presence and nurtured his dreams; a brother, Timothy Wylie, who shared a unique bond fostering a connection of love and a passion for music; grandparents, Margaret Carner, Clarence Carner Jr., and Marilyn Wylie; aunts and uncles, Grandison Carner, Nketia Collins, Clarice and Dana Smith, Karen and Thomas Everett, Valerie Wylie, Ronson Wylie, and Stephanie and Noel Allgood: and a host of cousins and many loving friends.
