LIFE AND LEGACY OF Darnisha Michelle Allen-Jackson On April 19, 1974, God blessed Beverly Jones Allen and Albert Allen with a precious gift, Darnisha Michelle Allen in Mobile, Alabama. Darnisha lived a very fruitful life. She is described by many as one who never meets a stranger. Darnisha loved others as God loved her and she showed her love unselfishly. Darnisha was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Darnisha departed this world on August 9, 2023 in McDonough, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of love, friendship, and compassion that will forever be cherished. Darnisha confessed Christ, joined, and was baptized at an early age at Hickam Air Force Base Chapel. She was also a member of the youth department Vision group. She was a member of Turner Monumental AME Church for most of her adult life where she raised her children and served as a member of the Courtesy Guild and worked with the YPD. She is preceded in death by her grand-parents, Marshall Jones Sr. and Sylvia Jones, and Joshua and Vera Allen. “The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; for the ears of the wise seek it out (Proverbs 18:15).” Darnisha graduated from Radford High School in Honolulu, Hawaii (1992) where she graduated as student body president. She went on to attend Albany State University (1992-1994) on full scholarship, where she ran track as a Golden Ram. She continued course work at Ashford University (2012-2016). Darnisha was also the owner of Luminously Lit Candles and Scents which she was very passionate about being able to have an avenue to share her creativity. She was an avid member of various organizations such as Women in Automotives, Black Achievers Professional Network, Auto Trader Alumni, and a member of the African American Alliance Group. She was a Big Sister while working with Cox Media and mentored girls in the Dekalb County School System. She also served as a member and President of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks Football Families United group. “Whatever you do, you must do it with all of your heart as working for the Lord not for human masters (Colossians 3:23).” A devoted wife and mother, Darnisha was the embodiment of unconditional love and unwavering support. Her husband and sons were the center of her universe, and her nurturing spirit created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and boundless affection. She guided them with wisdom, always encouraging them to chase their dreams and embrace life's challenges. Her dedication to her family was a true testament to her incredible strength and selflessness. “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).” Beyond her role as a mother, Darnisha was a beacon of light in the lives of her family and friends. Her genuine kindness and empathetic nature made her an extraordinary friend, one who always knew the right words to offer, the perfect gesture to make, and the comforting presence to be during times of joy or sorrow. Her ability to listen without judgment and offer a shoulder to lean on was a gift that endeared her to many. Darnisha spent hours attending events and supporting her nieces and nephew. She loved them as if they were her own children. Though Darnisha’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will forever live on in the memories she created and the lives she enriched. As we mourn the loss of a beloved mother, friend, and confidante, let us also celebrate the joy she brought to our lives and the love she shared so freely. God promises his children that, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).” Darnisha’s memories will be cherished by her parents Albert and Beverly Allen (Ellenwood, Ga); her husband, Antwuan Jackson (Ellenwood, Ga); her children, Bryson Allen- Williams (Los Angeles, Ca) and Antwuan Jackson Jr. (Charlotte, Nc); two step- daughters, a grandson; her two sisters, Sylvia (Brandon) Averett (Phenix City, Al), and Zandria (Jonathon) Samuel (Lithonia, Ga). Her Mother- In Law; Helen Jackson (Atlanta, Ga), Her Sister- In-Laws; Debra Jackson (Atlanta, Ga) Torrie Jackson (Atlanta, Ga) and Tracey Jones (Atlanta, Ga), Her Brother In-Law: Bernard Jackson, Her Uncles; Keeba Danso (Mobile, Al), Kenneth (Jo) Allen (Ellenwood, Ga); Her Aunties, Evelyn Green (Mobile, Al), Evelyn Allen Sylvester (Mobile, Al), and Rev. Ritchie Allen (Mobile, Al); Her Godparents, Mr. Jerry and Angela Brown (Mobile, Al). Her nieces, Bria Allen and Brooke Averett and her nephew, Braylen Averett; Her Godchildren, Tamyra, Trinity and Tayja’ Hunt and finally, an abundance of cousins and friends and her fur baby, Harry Allen. May Darnisha’s legacy continue to inspire us all to be more compassionate, more loving, and more present in the lives of those we hold dear. She will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of a life well-lived and a love that knows no bounds.
