Daniel Edward Walthour

Daniel E. Walthour, a devoted husband, loving father, stepfather, cherished brother, uncle and proud grandfather, peacefully departed this life on March 27, 2026, to his eternal home. Daniel was born on January 21, 1945, in Petersburg, Virginia, to the late Joseph and Lee Myrdous Walthour. He received his formal education through the Liberty County and Chatham County Public School Systems of Georgia, where he laid the foundation for a life of dedication and service. Following his graduation from A.E. Beach High School, Savannah, GA, Daniel answered the call to serve his country, dedicating years of honorable service in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. His commitment and discipline led to his retirement from the Army, a testament to his strength, integrity, and patriotism. After his military career, Daniel continued to pursue excellence by earning an associate’s degree as an optician. He worked faithfully for several years at OptiWorld in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to establish his own business, Dan Walthour Mobile Optician, through which he continued to serve his community with care and professionalism. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lee Myrdous Walthour, and his sister, Carrie Walthour. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Debra Walthour; his daughters, Melanie Walthour (Dolores) and Danielle Walthour (Joyce); his sister, Bess Walthour; his nephews, Darius and Karim Lawrence; his beloved grandchildren, Aaliyah Johnson and Cortez Elmore; along with his stepchildren and a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss him. Daniel will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, his strong work ethic, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind. At this time, no service information is available. Details will be provided at a later date.
