Cynthia “Cookie” Andrews, born October 30, 1960, in Atlanta, Georgia, at Grady Hospital, lived a life illuminated by light, laughter, courage, and an unwavering faith that carried her and everyone around her through every season. From the moment she arrived in this world, Cookie possessed a presence that was unmistakable. She grew up in the heart of Atlanta and attended Pitts Elementary School, where her natural charisma and warm spirit began to shine. As she continued her education at Archer High School, Cookie blossomed into a gifted athlete and performer. Whether she was dazzling on the basketball court, dancing with unmatched rhythm, or lifting spirits as a cheerleader, she embodied joy, confidence, and determination. After high school, Cookie continued her studies at Morris Brown College and Spelman College, institutions that strengthened not only her education but her character. Her drive to grow, learn, and achieve that would later define her as a mother, sister, Grandmother, and friend. Cookie devoted an extraordinary 38 years of service to the United States Postal Service at the Boggs division. In 1995, a moment she cherished deeply, Cookie proudly purchased her home in Decatur, Georgia. That home became far more than a residence it became a gathering place, and a source of comfort for so many. With a heart that knew no limits, Cookie opened her doors to anyone in need. Whether someone needed a meal, a conversation, a laugh, or a safe place to rest, Cookie welcomed them without hesitation. She became the neighborhood mom, community counselor, for those blessed to know her. To know Cookie was to be uplifted. She was the heartbeat of every room she entered radiant, authentic, and undeniably herself. Her honesty was refreshing, her joy contagious, and her unfiltered truth spoken with love, clarity, and conviction. If something needed to be said, Cookie would say it, always with the intention of helping others grow. She embodied resilience in its purest form a warrior whose faith never wavered, no matter the trials before her. To many, she was the very definition of strength, a woman who stood tall and unwavering even in the face of adversity. Cookie now joins in eternal rest her beloved mother, Nubie Andrews, and her siblings Bonnie Andrews, Elaine Andrews, Diane Andrews, and Willie Andrews, all of whom surely welcomed her with open arms. She leaves behind a powerful legacy through her five beloved children: Renaldo Phillips, her Power; Taniesha Morgan, her Strength; Jasmine Sheppard, her Deliverance; Angel Sheppard, her Joy; and Isaiah Andrews, her Completion. Each child reflects a piece of her heart, and through them, her spirit will continue to rise and flourish. Cookie was also a proud and devoted grandmother to her treasured grandchildren: Quamory Jones, Faith Andrews, Makiyah Jenkins, Chase Hollis, Dakota Bohannon, My’Ani Conway, Demi Evans-Hollis, and Journi Morgan. They were her pride, her laughter, and her greatest blessings each one held a special place in her soul. She is survived as well by her siblings Morris King, Theresa Turner, and Darlene Robinson, along with a host of extended family members, lifelong friends, neighbors, and loved ones who will forever carry her memory within them. To each of them, Cookie gave a piece of her heart through her words of wisdom, her acts of kindness, her humor, and her steady, unshakeable love. Cynthia “Cookie” Andrews will be remembered as a woman whose light never dimmed, whose laughter echoed long after the moment passed, and whose strength shaped the lives of everyone she touched. She made those around her feel seen, valued, protected, and inspired. Her lessons, her love, and her spirit will continue to guide her family for generations to come. As Cookie would always say, “Run yo race.” And for her, it is never goodbye—always see you later. May her light forever shine.
