Colonel Satterwhite

Colonel Francis Satterwhite was born on May 2, 1939 to the late Florence S. Harris in Henderson, North Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Magnolia Senior Living facility in Sugar Hill. GA. Colonel grew up in Henderson, North Carolina and received his primary education in Vance County, North Carolina. He moved to Bellport, NY and it was there that he began his long walk with the Lord. As a lifelong member of New Bethel First Pentecostal Church, he was ordained as a Deacon and upon relocating to Linden, NJ, continued serving faithfully as a Deacon at Zion Temple – the Headquarters Church. Colonel was known for his love of God, and was always ready and willing to discuss his faith with others. At the time of his passing, he attended Poplar Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he was recognized as an Honorary Deacon. Colonel met and married the love of his life, the late Mildred Pernell while living in Linden. NJ and they were blessed with two children, Sheila and Jesse. He worked to provide for his family for forty years as a sanitation engineer at Rahway Valley Sewage Authority in Rahway, NJ until he retired in September 2004. Upon retirement Colonel moved to Georgia to be with his family and continued to enjoy long road trips and watching his favorite western movies. Colonel’s wife Mildred predeceased him, as did his mother Florence S. Harris, sister Laura Rand, and brother Fred Satterwhite. To mourn his passing and cherish his memory, Colonel leaves behind his daughter, Sheila Braswell (Tony) and son, Jessie Satterwhite both of Sugar Hill, GA; three brothers: Dr. Earl Finch and Ronald (Jesse) Finch of Silver Spring, MD, and James Finch of Raleigh, NC; three sisters: Carolyn Williams of Henderson, NC, and Patricia Harris and Lucille Harris of Rahway, NJ; two grandchildren: Tony C. (Che’) Braswell II of Los Angeles, CA and Me’Drea Satterwhite of Sugar Hill, GA; two great-grandchildren: Tony C. Braswell III of Los Angeles, CA and Brielle Neveah Satterwhite of Sugar Hill. GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and loving friends. The family is heartened to know their Colonel walks with the Lord.
