Mrs. Cleo McSwain

Cleo McSwain of Douglasville, GA passed away on March 23, 2018. Cleo was born into life on October 28, 1938 to the parents of Aressa Jones and D. C. Slater in Hughes, Arkansas. The family relocated to Chicago, IL in 1941. Cleo accepted Christ at an early age. Cleo attended Raymond Grammar School and graduated from Wendell Phillips High School. Cleo married James McSwain June 7, 1967. Cleo was employed at the Spiegel Catalog Company, Chicago Post Office and retired after 22 years of service from the Cook county Hospital in Chicago, IL. Cleo enjoyed the company of family and friends. Cleo also enjoyed music. The Blues was her favorite. One of her favorite artist was B.B. King. Cleo loved sitting on her back deck and being entertained by her hummingbirds that she named Petie and Tweedy. Cleo enjoyed the Casino’s the lottery and a cold beer. Cleo leaves to mourn her passing, her beloved husband James McSwain, her loving son’s (2) Michael Slater (Kim) of Atlanta, GA and Anthony Slater (Lyillian) of Washington, DC, stepdaughter Lisa Colbert (Wesley) of Okmulgee, OK. Granddaughters, Terena Colbert and Michiah Porter, Grandson Elijah Porter, Brother-in-law Dennis McSwain of Chicago, IL, Aunt Betty Baker of Elk Grove, CA, Uncle Robert Jones of Chicago, IL, Rosie Lee of Chicago, IL, First Cousins Pauline Graham of Memphis, TN, Winifred Brown of Chicago, IL, Ptoshia Burnett of Tulsa, OK Karen Henderson of Chicago, IL Kimberly Sparkmon of St. Joseph, MI, Wendy Roper of Michigan City, ID Regina Davis of Maryville, IN Yolanda Winston of Houston, TX, Cheryl Taylor of Fairfield, CA, Angela Brewster of Elk Grove, CA Kevin Sparkmon of Chicago, IL and a host of cousins, relatives and extended family members. “We loved her dearly, But God loves her BEST” Celebration of Live services will be held at The South Dekalb Chapel of Gregory B.
