Mrs. Clarice Basdeo

On May 3, 2023. God In his infinite wisdom called Clarice Lovella Basdeo home to be with him. Clarice was a shining star that burned out too soon. Clarice’s life was far from easy, her perseverance, determination, and strength and the impact she had on those that she had encountered was very powerful. Clarice lived a full life and was touched by many people. I don’t know too many people that met Clarice and didn’t have something wonderful to say about her. Her sense of humor was outrageous! She used her sense of humor to connect to people, understand them, make them feel special like they mattered. I believe she got this gift from our father above. Everyone’s life was brighter having known her. We are all lucky to have had her in our lives. Clarice was born on May 20, 1937 to Clarence and Mable Woods in Blue Field Virginia. Clarice attended and graduated from Bluefield High School in Bluefield West Virginia. Soon after, she bore a son Michael Jerome. Clarice met and married Robert Smith. Soon after getting married, the two moved to New York City where they were blessed with four beautiful children. After Robert Smith left the world on October 23, 1967 and was called home, Clarice then met and married Kamaldath Basdeo in 1970. From this union, they were blessed with a beautiful little girl. Kamaldath Basdeo was called home on March 30, 1998 which left Clarice a widow until she was called home herself. Clarice as most of us knew was a lover of fun and life. She loved herself and she loved people! She leaves to cherish fond memories; her six children, Randy Woods of New York City, Michael Woods (Deceased), sisters Donna Smith of Tennessee, Sandra Smith of Grand Forks North Dakota, Vusablia White of Virgina and Felicia Basdeo of Lawrenceville Georgia, God – daughter Lashonnie Taylor of Brooklyn New York; one son in law Don Carlson of Tennessee; one daughter in law Selena Woods of Ashburn Georgia and Dr. Brentnold Batson, a very close friend and better half of Felicia Basdeo; grandchildren Dwayne, Dreamasia, , Dajuan, Marquise, Xianadia, Brandon, Devon, Michelle and last but not least Danielle. Two great granddogs; Mija and Bricks, great grandchildren; Justice, Jordan, Jacqueline, Dominic, Brooklynn, Jayden, Bruce, Jaice, Winter, Adalynn, Silas, Amyra, Remembrance, and Kamyae, and a host of relatives and friends! Clarice wasn’t the type who would tolerate all of us crying our eyes out without a little bit of laughter to make things easier. So, I leave you with this Winston Churchill quote, which I think represents how she felt in her last few days: “I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.” Loving Submitted The Family
