Mrs. Christine Reynolds

Christine Lamar Reynolds was born on June 25, 1945, in the quiet town of Sparta, Georgia, to the proud and loving parents Early and Lillie Ruth Lamar. As the eldest of six siblings, Christine naturally assumed a role of leadership and care, traits that would define her throughout her life. Christine’s early years were marked by a strong commitment to education, which she pursued within the Hancock County School System. Her diligent work ethic led her to a career in manufacturing, where she held roles at Sparta Garment, Walton Clothes Spring City, and Hometown Manufacturing. Christine excelled as a Quality Control Specialist, a position she held with pride until the facility's closure. Her innate kindness and dedication to helping others made her transition into patient care a natural next step. She served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia, before retiring as a Forensic Service Technician, leaving a legacy of compassion and care. From an early age, Christine found solace and purpose in her faith. A devoted member of Archer Grove Baptist Church, she embraced her role as a gatekeeper in the house of the Lord. Her love for serving Christ blossomed, and she eventually became President of the Usher Board, where she led with grace and vision. Under her leadership, the Usher Board initiated an outreach program that played a crucial role in the church's growth and vitality. Christine was unwavering in her dedication, laying a spiritual foundation for herself and others. After relocating to Atlanta, Christine continued her ministry at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. She found joy and community at Beulah where she became an active member of the Glenda J. Black Women’s Sunday School Class. Christine also enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in their church activities always encouraging them and actively participating. Her time at Beulah was deeply cherished, and she held her fellow church members close to her heart. Christine was a person with strong family ties and a very strong faith. She was gracious and giving always had an encouraging word to share. She nurtured those around her and showed everyone love and respect. Christine loved people and she enjoyed capturing those memories via photography, she never missed an opportunity to capture a photo to reminisce on during tough days. Christine’s legacy is truly the unconditional love shown to all that she encountered. In October 1967, Christine married the love of her life, Robert P. Reynolds. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, blessed with a daughter, Shawanda Reynolds- Cobb, who became the center of their world. Christine was a nurturing wife and mother always putting her family first. Christine leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, cherished by her devoted husband, Robert P. Reynolds, her beloved daughter, Shawanda Reynolds-Cobb, and her son-in-law, George Cobb, Jr. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Sydnie M. Cobb and Mason G. Cobb, who were the light of her life. Christine is also survived by her five siblings: Willie Frank Lamar (Ann), Jennie Simmons (James), Pauline Cooper (Charlie), Jimmy Lamar, and Linda Peek (“the late” Charlie Peek). She will be lovingly remembered by her aunts, Rowen Thomas and Rosa Crayton, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Christine's life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and service. She was committed to God to the very end telling those around her with a gentle smile, “God’s got me!” Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
