Cheryl Patterson, age 72, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Born on October 23, 1953, in Suddie, Essequibo Coast, Guyana, South America, Cheryl was the daughter of the late Augustus Peters and Frances Patterson. She received her education at Abramsville Secondary School and later attended MAC Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana, where she completed her clerical studies. Cheryl devoted many years of service to her country and community through her professional career. She worked as a secretary for the People's National Congress from approximately 1974 to 1986, later serving with Guyana National Bank from 1988 to 1990. She subsequently joined the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo), where she worked until her retirement in 2010. Following retirement, Cheryl relocated to the United States in 2011 to be closer to her family. Throughout her life, she was known for her generous spirit, kind heart, and unwavering commitment to those she loved. Family was always at the center of her world. Whether assisting relatives in times of need, helping nieces and nephews prepare for school, offering guidance, or simply opening her home and heart to others, Cheryl gave freely of herself and found great joy in caring for those around her. One of Cheryl's greatest sources of pride was her family. Cheryl was the devoted mother of her only son, Rhon Roberts, whom she loved dearly and shared with his father, Lennox Roberts. She was also the cherished and devoted grandmother of Rhon Roberts, Jr., with whom she shared a special bond. In her later years, Cheryl was blessed to receive the same love, devotion, and support from her son and grandson, who remained faithfully by her side and cared for her with great compassion and dedication. She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustus Peters and Frances Patterson; her siblings Kenneth Patterson, Gene Patterson, Mignon Patterson Alves, Bertram Patterson, Dennis Patterson, Pamela Patterson, Edgar Peters, Millicent Beaton, and Lisbye Alexander. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Rhon Roberts; her grandson, Rhon Roberts, Jr.; her loving and devoted twin sister and brother, Lynette Riley and Lennox Patterson; numerous special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, wisdom, and love. Cheryl enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing laughter, stories, and companionship. She treasured relationships and believed deeply in looking after those she loved. Her warmth, generosity, and caring nature touched countless lives and will remain an enduring part of her legacy. The Celebration of Life Service for Cheryl Patterson will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 1:00 PM. This service will be recorded and streamed live.
