Chelsie Liburd

Chelsie Porcia Liburd was born on the beautiful island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, on January 12, 1973, to Leonard Alphonso Liburd and Eudora Agnes Liburd, as their first-born child and loving sibling to Lambert, Craig, and Leonor. Chelsie cherished being the big sister and confidant to all, always offering a listening ear, gentle advice, and a shoulder to lean on. Chelsie began her education at St. Patrick's Elementary School at age five and graduated in 1986. She went on to attend St. Joseph's High School, graduating in May 1990. After completing high school, Chelsie moved to Valdosta, Georgia, then spent time in Canada with her grandmother, uncles, and aunts before returning to Georgia, the state she truly came to love. On December 20, 1990, she welcomed her firstborn son, Isaac Michael President Jr., affectionately called "Mikey," whom she loved and spoiled unconditionally. On July 24, 1995, she gave birth to her second son, Leochai Nathaniel Pelle — her "right-hand guy" — and the two boys held a special place in her heart that she wore proudly. Driven by a passion for helping others, she completed her Licensed Practical Nursing Program on St. Croix in 1993. However, her love of learning never ceased. While living in Georgia, she enrolled at UMA in Florida and graduated in 2015 with a diploma in Mortuary Science. She later earned her cosmetology certification in Georgia, a testament to her lifelong love of beauty, hair, and caring for others. Chelsie adored her two grandmothers: "Gran" Ruth Liburd on her father's side, and "Mama" Gilbertha Warrington on her mother's side. She came from a proud island heritage — her father from the beautiful island of Nevis, St. Kitts, and her mother from the island of Dominica. She also cherished her companion, Ikeido, who stood faithfully by her side through every appointment, hospital visit, and quiet moment of need. His unwavering devotion brought her comfort, and the family is deeply grateful for the love and care he showed her. The joy of her life in her final years came from her four beloved grandchildren: Malia, Isaac III, Nunu, and Logan — her St. Patrick's Day grandson. These four precious children brought light, laughter, and boundless happiness to her days. Even in her most difficult moments, she delighted in spending time with them, polishing the girls' nails and cherishing every moment. Faithfully and lovingly, all four grandchildren, along with her two sons, were present at her bedside when she drew her last breath. Her final words were, "I love you." Chelsie also dearly loved her daughters-in-law and her nieces, Millina — her "Yena" and "Milli" — and Chenaya, whom she adored with a love made even deeper by the memory of her brother Craig. Chelsie was easy-going, simple, and elegant. She was respectful, peaceful, resilient, strong, and brave. She greeted her father each morning without fail and sent loving texts throughout the day. At times she was a quiet, gentle soul; at others, a spirited woman who spoke truth with unwavering love. Everything she said and did came from a place of love. Despite living with Multiple Sclerosis, Chelsie refused to let her illness define her. She continued to make new memories, find joy in each day, and face every challenge with quiet courage. When asked how she was, her answer was always the same: "I'm doing OK." Chelsie loved reading her Bible and praying daily for strength and understanding. She was a woman of faith; she believed in God and carried that belief with quiet strength. Her chosen name, "Ayodesta Dedreamah," meaning "Divine Joy and Happiness," reflected who she truly was. She traveled to many states across the country, always carrying a piece of her island home with her. In September 2023, she made her last trip back to St. Croix — a precious visit she had planned to share with her sister. The losses of her grandmothers and her beloved brother Lambert weighed on her heart. The passing of her brother Craig Thurston Liburd — "Din-Din" — on June 26, 2008, was a grief she carried always. She loved him deeply, and in her final days, she found peace in knowing she would soon be reunited with him. Chelsie Porcia Liburd received her final call and bid her family farewell on Saturday, March 7, 2026, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and the voices of loved ones on the phone, offering words of comfort and love. She had fulfilled her assignment. Her pain and suffering were over, and she is now at peace with her brothers and loved ones who went before her.
