Charles Anthony Harris, Jr

Charles Anthony (Tony) Harris, Jr., was born on December 17, 1968, to Joyce Harris Keith and the late Charles Anthony Harris, Sr. He transitioned on January 3, 2025. Tony attended Walker High School and graduated in 1986. It was there that he met his forever love, Ms. Cartesha Cox. From this union, their son, Pastor Cortez Harris, was born. A er working several jobs, he discovered his passion for helping others and joined the team at the D&E Group. ere he ourished in the eld of nancial literacy and homeownership. Tony grew up in the church and gave his life to Christ at an early age as a member of Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He later joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Richard B. Lankford. erea er, he became a member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jerry D. Black. Tony would eventually become a founding member of Greater Destiny Baptist Church, under the leadership of his son, Pastor Cortez Harris. Tony’s greatest joy came from singing for the Lord, which he began doing as a young boy. He loved singing in the choir so much that he sang in several choirs throughout his lifetime. At di erent stages in life, Tony was a member of e Anointed Voices of Praise, e Family Connection, e Atlanta Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and the choir that he was a member of until his passing, e Atlanta Masonic Choir. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Anthony Harris, Sr.; grandmothers, Daisy Harris and Eleanor Robinson; grandfathers, Norman Harris and Eugene Robinson; and uncles, Ray Harris and Norman V. Harris. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Joyce Harris Keith; stepfather, Je rey Keith; son, Pastor Cortez Harris; sisters, Roslyn Colvin, Rhoda (Dwayne) Holmes, Shunta Franklin, Shun Franklin, Denise (Je rey) Askew, and Carmon Lewis; nieces, Bryanca Colvin, Taylor (Deshaun) Edwards, Rhilynn Franklin, and Kaileigh Jackson; nephews, Bryan Colvin, Darius Holmes, Je rey Askew, Darius Askew, and Terry Askew; great aunt, Florence Harris; uncle, Arnold (Carrie) Harris; his forever love, Cartesha Cox; and a host of other family and friends. “In truth and in honesty, Tony… we will miss you dearly.”
