Cassandra Mia Chatman

On January 1, 1965, in Bogalusa, La the world was blessed with a gift we all had the honor to know: Cassandra Mia Chatman. Cassandra’s life was full of accomplishment and adventure. She was a noted world traveler; residing in Louisiana, Turkey, Idaho, California, North Dakota, the Republic of the Philippines, Mississippi, and Georgia with visits to Japan, Italy, Texas, Florida, North Carolina & South Carolina. She settled down in Mississippi in 1983 and relocated to the Atlanta Metro area (Duluth) in 2014. Cassandra had a love of life that showed in everything she did, every smile she gave, and every laugh she shared. She loved music, all music, and danced no matter where she was in the moment. She had a talent for cooking and enjoyed preparing meals for her friends and family. She was an empathetic listener, a confidant without judgment, and a beacon of compassionate truth to those she loved. She was an avid reader and could always be found enjoying a moment with a book in hand. She was passionate about football and could be heard yelling “Who Dat?!?!?” or “Geaux Saints” all over town. She enjoyed brisk walks and singing out loud in the car on road trips. She enjoyed travel, home building/DIY, décor shopping, sewing, crocheting, scrapbooking, photography, crafting, and Hallmark Christmas movie season. Cassandra was a dedicated advocate for the preservation of culture, ancestral connections, and equity. Cassandra was witty and humorous, able to laugh at the world and herself. Cassandra loved spirited talks and spending time with her devoted family, friends, and acquaintances. She was always ready and welcoming of new experiences and new adventures. Cassandra dedicated over 20 years of her life to financial services/management carrying a well-deserved reputation for being highly intelligent, an effective problem-solver, a helpful and knowledgeable colleague, a consummate professional, and a highly valued and appreciated woman of integrity. Cassandra also had a creative and artistic side she engaged in professionally as a disc jockey for two local radio stations in Mississippi before committing to corporate pursuits. She took great pride in earning her Master of Business Administration and starting her own business, Zipzy Coya LLC, leaving a legacy of success to be admired by her friends and family. More than anything, Cassandra was deeply devoted to her family. Her life will continue to be celebrated by her dutiful son Mr. Alvin Henry Chatman; her beautiful grand-daughter Miss Emmarie Grace Chatman; her honorable parents Retired Chief Master Sergeant & Mrs. Henry & Barbara (Keil) Chatman; proud siblings Mr. Malcolm Chatman, Ms. Rosalind Chatman, Ms. Scarlet Chatman; her loving nephew Mr. Malik Richardson; her aunt Mrs. Chinese (Keil) Peters; her uncles Mr. Richard Keil, Mr. Larry Keil; a host of loving cousins; a plethora of friends and colleagues; and her ever faithful canine companion Smoky. Cassandra accepted the invitation of her ancestors, joining them on October 18, 2022.
