Mrs. Caryn Diane Carswell Kirby June 25, 1968 – July 28, 2025 With profound love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Mrs. Caryn Diane Carswell Kirby, who peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, July 28, 2025. Born on Tuesday, June 25, 1968, in Atlanta, Georgia, Caryn was the youngest of two daughters born to the late Daniel and Tanya Carswell. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her devoted husband of twenty-five years, Philip Lorenzo Kirby, whom she lovingly referred to as her “gentle giant.” Caryn was educated in the Atlanta Public School System, graduating from Frederick Douglass High School, and she continued her studies at the University of Phoenix. A woman of grace and style, Caryn had a natural flair for fashion and fragrance—always polished, always poised. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes, and she delighted in finding just the right accessory to complete any look. Caryn dedicated nearly 25 years of loyal service to Emory Healthcare, working in Public Safety, where her presence and professionalism left a lasting impression on both colleagues and patients. In 2016, she made the difficult decision to retire after being diagnosed with Lupus, a journey she met with strength and dignity. In 1996, Caryn married the love of her life, Philip Lorenzo Kirby. Their union was a true partnership filled with laughter, unwavering support, and quiet strength. His passing in 2021 left a void in her heart, yet Caryn continued to live with resilience and joy. A true social butterfly, Caryn radiated warmth and connected effortlessly with those around her. Whether spending time with friends or cheering on her beloved Atlanta Falcons as a proud season ticket holder, she brought energy and enthusiasm to every moment. But Caryn’s greatest devotion was to her faith. A student of the Bible and a seeker of spiritual truth, she spent countless hours in study, drawing closer to God and preparing her heart for eternity. In 2008, she took the most meaningful step of her spiritual journey by obeying the gospel and being baptized into Christ. Caryn's radiant spirit, generous heart, and unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, style, and spiritual beauty. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Catherine (Sterling) Banks; her aunts, Shirley Ann Collins and Gwendolyn (Arthur) Jordan; one uncle, James Timothy (Melanie) Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 11:00 AM at The Atlanta Area Airport Road Church of Christ 3308 Old Jonesboro Rd., Hapeville, GA 30354.
