Carla Maria Donzo

Celebrating the Life … Carla Marie Tuttle-Donzo, March 22, 1969, was born and raised in Jenkin-Jones, WV. She was preceded in death by her mother, the late Mary Dudley-Tuttle. She was a graduate of Fairmont State University in Fairmont, WV with a degree in Nursing. Her professional nursing studies and practice resulted in her becoming a Registered Nurse and working at West Virginia University Hospital. Upon moving to Lawrenceville, GA in 1999, she continued her nursing career at Gwinnett Medical Hospital with subsequent career extensions into the private sector, present work at Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia. Carla Tuttle was joined in holy matrimony to Abu Morris Donzo on September 28, 2008. This fourteen-year marriage brought her two daughters Chanel Marie Donzo and Masaira Marie Donzo. Her family continued to expand with the recovery of her relationship with her siblings, the Rev. Dr. Scott Thomas and Annabel Nesby. Her family of creation with Morris afforded enjoyment of international travel, cruising, going to plays, and movies, as well as family building and relational growth. Carla, a person of core and long-term faith, grew up as a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Fairmont, WV. There she served as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Pastor Aide Committee, and had clerical congregational responsibilities. After moving to Lawrenceville, GA and working at Gwinnett Medical Center, Carla became a devoted member of the Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Duluth, GA through working relationships with other nurses who too worked in the Gwinnett Medical System. She introduced her mother to Mt. Carmel and served as the Church Clerk, New Members Ministry Coordinator, Health Ministry Facilitator, Usher, and regular Sunday Worship Liturgist during the pandemic. She often functioned as the impromptu bench-sitter and wo-mentor for youth members learning to sit without their family members and others interested in experiencing ushering on the sanctuary’s entrance door. Carla Marie Tuttle-Donzo passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Emory Dekalb Hospital. Our beloved leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Abu Morris Donzo, her daughters Chanel Marie Donzo and Masaira Marie Donzo and her grandson, Kaison Kamari Carter all of Snellville, GA; loving siblings, brother Rev. Dr. Scott Thomas of Boonsboro, MD, and sister, Annabel Nesby of Woodside, NY; lifetime friend, Linda Jones of Lawrenceville, GA; family best friend, Janet Tillman of Gainesville, GA and Karen Hansel of Clayton County, GA; as well as extended Mt.
