Brenda Louise Tucker

Brenda Parks Tucker, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, January 5. She was born on September 17, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Myres (Parks) and George Williams. She grew up in foster care and was lovingly raised by the late Henry and Mamie Moody. Brenda graduated from Turner High School, Class of 1976, in Atlanta, Georgia. Brenda was a devoted, praying, and virtuous woman—a loving mother and grandmother (Nana). She was a woman of many gifts: seamstress, cook, advocate, organizer, and caregiver. She believed deeply in her children and lived by the principle she passed on to them: “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.” Brenda had a BIG heart and was always checking on family and friends, serving others, and showing up when help was needed. Her career reflected her work ethic and commitment to people. She made cartoon character uniforms at Six Flags Over Georgia, served as a supervisor at General Motors, and worked as a quality control food inspector at All American Gourmet. As Chief Union Steward for the Teamsters, she organized strikes and advocated fiercely for employees’ rights, including defending workers who were suspended or wrongfully terminated. She also served as a Program Specialist with Girls Inc., teaching at Ralph Bunche Middle School and the Hillcrest Housing Apartments. Brenda proudly served two years as the Family Readiness Chair for the 427th Medical Logistics Battalion in Forest Park, Georgia. She retired in 2019 due to disability. Brenda leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, Bernard McGee; exhusband and close friend, Willie (Angela) Tucker, whom she met while working as a seamstress at Wilen Manufacturing; Daughters, Erica N. Parks, Keshia (Josaline) Tucker, and Tashauana (Gabriel) TuckerBlackmon; stepdaughter, Desiree Tucker; Granddaughters, Myracle Tucker and Kayliah Williams; and goddaughter, Kahlia Rasheed. She is also survived by a host of siblings and loved ones: Maryann (Leon) French, Larry (Carol) Parks, Annie Parks, Johnny Parks, Michael Parks, Milton (Eugletis) Parks, Betty Parks, Calvin (Rosaline) Moody, Cynthia (Kelvin) Williams, Cymanthia (William) Crowley, Tito Brown, David Canion, Oscar Smith, Keisha (Ted) Langley Kelly, Edna Muhammad, and Grace Norman; along with close former in-laws, Carolyn (John) Willis-Smith, Dwight Willis, Brenda (Esries) Mitchell, Deborah (Marion) Jackson, Randy (Cookie) Parker, Melinda (John) Brown, and the late Sonya (Robert) Tucker-Lofton. Brenda’s life was not easy—but it was full of love, fight, and faith, and she made sure none of it went to waste. Services entrusted to Gregory B.
