Anthony Ellis Weaver

Mr. Anthony Weaver of Decatur, GA passed Monday, January 11, 2016. Celebration of Life Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Helping Hand International Prayer Group 2551 Tilson Rd, Decatur, GA 30032. Anthony Ellis Weaver (Pookie) was born on February 6, 1953 to the late Mrs. Tiny Mae Weaver Watts and the late Mr. Jessie Shepherd. He departed this life on January 11, 2016. Preceding him in death were: his sister, Gloria Y. Watts, Winfred B. Watts Sr., Curtis Shepherd, and Mary Shepherd.Anthony received Christ at a very young age and was baptized under the leadership of Reverend W. L. Reynolds at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He sang in the youth choir, Poplar Springs Male Chorus, the Jackson Movement Gospel Choir, and the Ellenwood Male Chorus. He was married to the late Mrs. Martha Almond Weaver. From this union four children were born: Antonio L Weaver, Jekerry A. Weaver (Kimberly), Terry J. Weaver, and Octavia M. Weaver. He also has an older son, Demetrice Weaver (Robbie). He grew up in the Ellenwood community and received his education through DeKalb County Public School System. Early years he attended County Line Elementary School, Hamilton High School in Scottsdale and graduated from Gordon High School in Decatur in 1972. In his later years, Anthony joined Helping Hands International Prayer Group, under the leadership of Reverend Frances Yates, Senior Pastor. He sang in the Male Chorus and was a member of the Men's Fellowship Group. He loved going on the men retreats and driving the golf cart around the premises. Anthony was mild mannered, always smiling and never met a stranger. He walked the streets of Ellenwood always checking in on the senior citizens making sure their trash cans were back in their yards after the garbage man came. He will be missed by his family and the community. He enjoyed holidays with his family, especially eating his sister Barbara's homemade banana pudding. Mr. Anthony Ellis Weaver leaves to cherish many wonderful memories: his siblings, Mrs. Barbara Kelly (Raymond), Ms. Winfred B. Watts (Kathy), Mrs. Portia Burgess (John), Mr. Ricky Shepherd (Tywanda), and Ms. Shena Shepherd (Richard Simons); ten grandchildren, Alexandria, Kaylyn, Dimitri, Antonio II, Justin, Donovan, Bryson, Dominique, Carter, and Addison; aunts, Mrs. Frances Dupree, Mrs. Pearlie Echols, Ms. Alma Porter, Mrs. Josephine Hill, Mr. & Mrs. James Boyd (Mary Ruth), Mrs. Lillian Watts, and Mrs. Jean Watts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
