In Loving Memory and Celebration of Andrea Roslyn Mangham June 17, 1954 - August 13, 2023 Born June 17, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in the heart of Chicago, Andrea was the cherished daughter of Lela Lucas-Bowen, Dennis Bowen and biological father Andrew Gillis and the beloved sister to Karen and Dennis. A devout Christian, Andrea's unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. Even when faced with adversity, her belief remained steadfast, guiding her through the challenges she encountered, including her brave battle with cancer since Fall 2021. Andrea began school at St. Lawrence Elementary and graduated from St. Francis De Sales high school. With a passion for healthcare and nurturing others, Andrea pursued a career in nursing after completing her bachelors. She dedicated herself to Philips Medical, specializing in teaching fellow nurses the intricacies of complex medical equipment. Working tirelessly, often on weekends, she rose to be one of the top coaches in her field. Andrea found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved shopping, fashion, and treasured moments like walking the trails of Stone Mountain or dancing with abandon. Her love for travel often led her to places she felt the happiest, from the serene beaches of Hilton Head and Martha's Vineyard to the lively musicals on Broadway. The creative side of her led her to drag anyone who was near to many museums. To appreciate culture and beauty, even in simple things, was one of the best sides to Andrea. In the comfort of her home, she would often lose herself in Lifetime movies and the soothing melodies of R&B music. For those of us that spent the most time with Andrea, known affectionately as “Her Girls”, Karen, Julie, Carol S, Sue and ChiSisters, Andrea was truly a stand-up comedian that had us laughing until we were crying. She was the most gift giving person, never missing a birthday, and giving a gift just because…Her most favorite bonus gift was a two-dollar bill, a beautiful card and a special love note. Andrea was that friend that you could trust with your most intimate secrets. Our Sister Our Girl, we will miss you forever. A mother's love knows no bounds, and Andrea exemplified this. She often reminded her children, Gabrielle, Solomon, and Sarah, "Stay out of jail and love God." She'd lovingly inquire, "Who is mommy's baby?". A bond forged by destiny, Andrea met her husband, Randal, through her friend Julie at Howard Law School, and together they celebrated life's joys and faced its challenges. She is survived by her husband of 29+ years, Randal Mangham, her children Solomon and Sarah Mangham, her brother Dennis Bowen Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
