Mr. Amos Brown

Amos Brown A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Amos left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Born on September 10, 1950 to Amos and Rosie Lee Brown in Donaldsonville GA. Amos lived a life filled with laughter, love, and the irresistible smell of barbecue. He had a knack for finding humor in everyday situations and his quick wit and infectious smile could light up any room. His stories, often embellished with a healthy dose of playful exaggeration, were legendary and will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of listening. Amos was a devoted family man who cherished his wife Dorothy of 54 years and was a constant source of love and support to his children. He took immense pride in their accomplishments, big and small, and his guidance and wisdom shaped them into the individuals they are today. His role as a grandfather brought him immeasurable joy, and he relished every moment spent creating memories with them. He joined Philadelphia Baptist Church in Gordon Alabama at a young age. He later joined Turner Monumental AME Church after moving to Atlanta. He participated in various organizations within the church. While at Turner he organized the T.O.U.C.H. ministry and the Greeters Ministry. He was a very devoted Christian and he loved his church. For many years, Amos was a dedicated little league coach. He believed in the power of teamwork, sportsmanship, and the importance of having fun. He instilled these values in the young players he coached, leaving a positive impact on countless lives. He was more than just a coach; he was a mentor and a friend to many. Amos Brown had a fulfilling 40-year career with Southern Railroad, until his retirement in 2010. During his tenure, he developed numerous relationships that he cherished and continued to nurture throughout his life. His dedication and commitment to his work were evident in the strong bonds he formed with colleagues, friends, and the community. Amos’ passion for barbecuing was legendary. He was a true grill master, and his backyard was often filled with the mouthwatering scent of ribs, chicken, and his flavorful steak. His barbecues were more than just meals; they were gatherings of family and friends, filled with laughter, storytelling, and a shared love of good food. Amos will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on through the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the love he so freely gave.
