Allen Chapman, Sr

Mr. Allen Chapman, Sr., 89, of Franklin, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Mr. Chapman was born August 15, 1934, in Twiggs County, Danville, Georgia, son of the late Allen Chapman, Sr., and Mary Butler-Chapman. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior early in his life. He had been a Heard County resident since 1995, and was formerly from Decatur, Georgia. He grew up and was educated in the Twiggs County public school system. He moved to Atlanta in 1953. He attended the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years as his church home up until his health began to decline. He was a man of quiet faith which he expressed through faithfulness, service, and prayer. He retired from the City of Atlanta as a supervisor of highways and streets. In addition to working, his hobbies and passions included being a competitive deep-sea fisherman. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, and gardening. He excelled and was excellent in his hobbies. He spent many summers preparing his fish and delicious garden vegetables. He loved working outside in mother nature. He received numerous plaques, honors, and certificates for years for his dedication, loyalty, and appreciation for going above and beyond the call of duty for several years from: The City of Atlanta Beulah Missionary Baptist Church President of the James Freeman Senior Usher Board A member of the Male Usher Board He also attended the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc. He was also a member and van driver for the Beulah Church Golden Eagles Auxiliary and received several certificates of appreciation from the Georgia Golden Olympics at Robins Air Force Base, GA. He was a Masonic member for several years at Booker T. Washington #534, Atlanta District #1. Survivors include his devoted loving wife, Dorothy Chapman of Franklin, formerly of Decatur, Georgia; children, Victoria Lamar (Paul), Allene Chapman, Allen Chapman, Jr. (Lisa), Sherrett Minton (Arthur), and Chariti Murray; he leaves behind 16 grandchildren, Tijuana Brown, Antoinette Puckett, Andrea “Nikki” Eberhart, Alterial Chapman, Clarissa Chapman-McLester, Tiffany Chapman, Terita Chapman Shadd, Audia Jones, Sharonte (Puddin) Whipple, Amessia Chapman, Arsharye Minton, LaJuan Ford, Jr., Talmadge Amadeus Williams, Dwain O’Neal, Jr., Christian Murray, and Komari Clark; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, one Aunt Mildred Butler Brandfur, and a devoted niece Ollie Mae Melvin along with a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Earlie Mae Chapman; sons, Gregory Chapman and Talmadge Ambrose Williams; three sisters, Annie Bell Watkins, Rosa Lee Melvin, and Louise Fowler-
