Mr. Alfred Wiggins Sr

Alfred “Sonny” Wiggins Sr. was born on December 23, 1948, in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, to Naomi Jones and Alfred Linzy. He was called to eternal rest on February 5, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Affectionately known as “Sonny” by those who knew him, Alfred was married to his loving wife, Gloria Wiggins, for 54 years. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with cherished memories. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Elyse Greene, and his two sons, Douglas Parker and his wife, Marilyn Parker, and Alfred Wiggins Jr. and his wife, L’Erin Wiggins. His grandchildren — Tristan Greene, Tashawna Parker, Michael Mullen, Morgan Mullen, Diamond Wiggins, Leah Parker, Avery Johnson, Taylor Parker, Jade Simmons, Summer Stephens, and Ariah Freeman — were a source of immense pride and joy for him. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Nila Menifee, Bailee Walker, Trinity Greene, Brycen Walker, Harmony Parker, Amor Belcher, and Noah Simmons, who brought even more love into his life. Alfred is survived by his brothers, Leroy Wiggins and Wayne Hunt, and his sister Zella Linzy, who were important parts of his life. For nearly 32 years, Alfred worked in the telecommunications field, starting with Western Electric in an entry-level role. Through hard work, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, he climbed to an upper-level managerial position with AT&T and later with Lucent Technologies. Throughout his career, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues, known for his leadership, integrity, and strong work ethic. A lifelong learner, Alfred had a deep passion for discovering new technological tools and constantly expanding his knowledge. His curiosity and enthusiasm for learning remained guiding forces throughout his life. He lived out the true meaning of his name, "Alfred," which translates to "wise counselor," always offering guidance and support to those around him. Alfred was also an avid DIY enthusiast. Whether it was fixing things around the house or tackling new projects, he loved using his skills to bring his ideas to life. His creativity and problem-solving abilities reflected his resourcefulness and drive. Additionally, he enjoyed playing chess, appreciating the game for its strategic challenges and opportunities to engage with others. Alfred had a deep love for photography, capturing moments and memories that will be cherished forever. He also enjoyed bowling and traveling, always relishing the chance to share experiences with family. As the anchor of his family, Alfred provided unwavering support, love, and wisdom. His greatest passion was spending time with those he loved. He had a unique ability to make others feel comfortable, valued, and heard. His humble nature, wise counsel, and warm spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He and his wife, Gloria, served together faithfully as Care Pastors and on other ministries at the Church in the Now in Conyers, GA, contributing to the spiritual growth and well-being of others. Alfred was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Naomi Jones, and father, Alfred Linzy. While his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were touched by his kindness and generosity. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he gave so freely during his lifetime.
