Alfred Douglas Lee

Alfred Douglas, 68 years old, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 in the excellent care of Halcyon Hospice Care, located at 5411 Northland Drive, Atlanta, GA. Born in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Mary (Terrell) Lee. He received his primary education in the Atlanta Public School System. After graduating from Henry McNeal Turner High School, Class of 1965, he furthered his studies at Clark Atlanta University. Thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Army. He began his service in Fort Gordon, GA as a non-commissioned officer, serving as a military policeman in the 1960’s and 1970’s. After proudly serving his country, he ended his active duty in Fort Riley, Kansas with an honorable discharge, earning the prestigious National Defense Service Medal. Following his service in the U. S. Army, Alfred began a career in government and commercial security loss prevention. During his distinguished career, he worked as a Deputy United States Marshal, protecting U. S. Federal Judges, attorneys, and jurors while safeguarding the United States District Court, U. S. Courthouse, Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta division. He finished his career as a Security Guard with Cox Enterprises, Inc., Corporate Security. He began his employment with “Cox” as a contractor for Allied Barton for seven years, while simultaneously working for Manheim Drive, a division of Cox Enterprises, Inc. Eventually, he was elevated to Corporate Security Ambassador for Cox Enterprises, Inc. Assigned to the Central Park Campus, he was charged with the responsibility of monitoring pedestrian traffic, viewing and authenticating employee ID badges, and assisting employees with screening and entrance onto the property. He was well known for his professionalism and courteous service. Cox Enterprises, Inc. became not only his place of employment, but also where he met his extended family. He knew every employee’s name and enjoyed greeting each employee with his warm smile. His day was made complete when he saw a smile on each of their faces. The Viewing for Alfred D. Lee will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 10:00AM to 8:00 PM, with the Wake from 7:00 PM-8:00PM at the South DeKalb Chapel of Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes- 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, GA. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM, Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, 2340 Clifton Springs Rd. Decatur, GA. Burial on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 11:30am at Georgia National Cemetery-2025 Mount Carmel Church Ln, Canton, GA. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30am for procession to the final resting place. He was the loving father of Quinez Lee, Cornelius Lee, and Danielle Lee. He was the cherished brother of Cynthia Sloane, Carmaleta Lee Dunlap (Norris), and Sonya Lee Coggins (Wes’Shante’). He was favorite “unckie” to niece E’Mari and nephew Zenar Coggins. He was a Brother in Christ to Ming Yao, Stephanie Dyer, Patrick Davis, Norris Dunlap, Lisa Enix, the entire Cox Enterprises, Inc. family, and a host of relatives, mentees, and friends.
