Thomas Edward Manning

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2022, after nearly a year of battle with the nefarious foe, named Cancer, THE LORD JESUS summoned HIS son, Thomas Edward Manning to come to His Eternal Home. For Tom, “Home Is Where The ♥️ Is”! Whether Hackensack, N. J. where He was born and raised, or Duluth, Georgia, his final residence - Home is where Tom’s ♥️ was always. Home in Hackensack meant growing up in a loving, structured, family, raised by his previously deceased Parents, Wells and Irene Manning, with his elder twin brothers, Lawrence (Larry) Manning (Sonja) and Wallace Manning (predeceased). They learned the importance of community, their role in it, and that the home is where it begins. Education was a must! Thus, following graduation from Hackensack High School (New Jersey) in 1969, Tom completed his studies and graduated from Northeastern College (Colorado) and Pace University (New York). Tom excelled in basketball in both high school and college until unfortunate injuries interrupted what could have been a professional career. From his repertoire of special interests, Tom then focused on another sport —— FISHING! Oradell Reservoir was one of his favorite New Jersey fishing spots. He and his fishing friends, known as the “Bassing Brothers” had many memorable fishing experiences also in Nags Head, North Carolina Outer Banks. Tom believed in finishing what he started. If he started a project, with precision, he addressed every detail. So, if you were his project, you could count on him to go all the way with you! That philosophy and persuasion would be evidenced by many of Tom’s future ventures like his decision to wed his Wife of 47 years, Alfreda Taylor; where together, their love and family values, were applied in raising their Adored Daughter, Jacinta Manning. More joy would enter the home with the birth of their granddaughter, Jade Manning - Tom ‘s heartbeat. The center of his heart was his love for the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Tom worshiped and faithfully served at his church home Highway Holiness Church Ministries of Hackensack, NJ. With sincere care and devotion, he served his Pastor Elaine Merritt. One of his favorite sayings was “What Would Jesus Do” WWJD? Tom’s professionalism was evidenced in his role as an Executive of Exxon Corporation. However, Entrepreneurship was his calling! Tom was ahead of his time as the Founder / Operator of a Full-Service Cosmetology Family Business, serving Hackensack and Vicinity. His Entrepreneurship also included Ownership/Partnership of a Music Corporation and Artist Management company. However, Tom had “Georgia on His Mind” and made it the next place he and his Wife Alfreda would call Home. For Tom, Home in Georgia meant exploring the place, the people, and the food. Deciding on a fishing spot was primary, where he could take his boat and spend hours in his favorite sport. Throughout their “new” home, Tom’s signature was displaying his love for family, music (jazz being his favorite), the Bible, and “yes” fishing! After three years, Tom’s home location would change one last time. JESUS CHRIST, whom Tom knew as LORD and SAVIOR, called, and Tom answered the call to come to his heavenly home. We are comforted in knowing that our HUSBAND, FATHER, BROTHER, UNCLE, COUSIN, and FRIEND chose his destiny and made JESUS his LORD! Farewell Tom! LEAVE THE LIGHT ON! I Thessalonians 4:13-14 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
