Michael Hurse Ford

Michael Hurse Ford was born on August 3, 1957 in Milledgeville, Georgia to Helen M. Ford and the late Mal. E. Ford. At an early age, his family relocated to Queens, NY. While growing up, Michael attended P.S. 140, I.S. 8, and Andrew Jackson High School. While attending I.S. 8 and Andrew Jackson High School, Michael was active in basketball. He loved the game. At Andrew Jackson, Michael was under the coaching and tutelage of the late Coach Chuck Granby who was an inspiration in his life. As an adult Michael believed in giving back to the community with his time and guidance. He was a coach and mentor in the New York City Police Athletic League (PAL) program and he genuinely loved his role. He loved the kids and wanted to help guide them in the right direction. In New York Michael was employed with and retired from TWA. In the early 90’s, Michael relocated to Stone Mountain, GA to be with his family. While in Georgia, Mike found a career in Federal Armed Security. His last employment was with Paragon Systems of Atlanta, GA. Michael also became active in a YMCA athletic program for youth and looked forward to coaching and mentoring the kids. Michael was a good friend to many. He was known for his smile and his kind spirit. He could find the good in people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed grilling and was dubbed the grillmaster at home and friends’ barbecues. Michael was blessed with a daughter Shameika M. Ford from his union with Ruby D. Johnson. The love and pride he had for his daughter was immeasurable. On April 20, 2020 our heavenly Father called Michael home. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Shameika M. Ford, his mother Helen M. Ford, two sisters, Gladys Ford and Connie Ford, two nephews Bobby Brown, Jr. (Elaine), and Harry Ford, Jr., four nieces Shelia Hart, Wanda Brown, Denise Vincent (Reginald), and Melody Ford as well as a host of loving relatives and friends (Southside!). Michael is preceded in death by three siblings: Melvin Ford, Harry Ford, Sr., and Evelyn Ford. Michael will always be remembered as a loving son, dad, uncle, brother and friend.
