Ishmael Hall

Cherished Memories Ishmael was born to the late Mr. Leon Gray Hall and Ms. Clara Ann Griffin. He is preceded in death by his father. Ishmael leaves behind his loving wife of 20 years, Ms. Kristie Hall. He is survived by his sister, Shakira Hall Brooks (Gymaco Brooks), and his brothers, Malcolm Hall (Michelle Hall) and Hasani Hall. He also leaves behind his stepson, Joshua Woodard. In addition, Ishmael is lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sandra Ann Lay, and his late father-in-law, Mr. Herbert Lay, Jr. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Anthony Elliott (Pamela Young Elliott), and sister-in-law, Laureka Lay. His nieces and nephews who cherish his memory include Monique Hall, Mariah Hall, Miles Hall, Malika Hall, Kamil Crane, Tyee Crane, Daysia Sanders, Gyshawn Brooks, Kia Brooks, La’Kendra Hall, Damani Hall (preceded in death), Kaiden Hall, Isaiah Jackson, Mariah Elliott, and Danielle Smith. His grand-nieces, Aylani and Dayal Chapman, as well as a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and step-brother Willie, will also treasure his memory. Life and Legacy Ishmael was educated in the Atlanta Public School System, where he attended Toomer Elementary School as part of the distinguished “I Have a Dream” program. He later attended Coan Middle School, Bass High School, and Banneker High School. After high school, he enrolled in the Job Corps in Brunswick, GA, where he earned a technical degree in welding. Throughout his career, Ishmael worked at J&J Welding for seven years, Grady Hospital as an ambulance driver for four years, and Dekalb County Government. Eventually, he decided to work for himself, utilizing his many skills and talents. Ishmael was an exceptional and multi-talented individual. A true jack-of-all-trades, he mastered everything from auto mechanics to being a grill master. He had an incredible ability to work with his hands, taking on big and small projects with determination. His competitive nature meant he always strived to be the best at whatever he did. A creative soul, Ishmael had a deep passion for music. He was known for crafting incredible beats, blending different sounds to create beautiful compositions. His impeccable sense of style set him apart—he always stepped out in carefully coordinated outfits, with blue being his favorite color. He often said, “It makes me happy, and I feel calm and peaceful when I wear it.” Above all, Ishmael was a devoted husband. One of his greatest joys in life was his wife, Kristie. He was her protector, but he also taught her to be strong and independent. No matter the day, he always found ways to make her smile—whether through love letters, flowers, or playful pranks. Their relationship was filled with laughter, love, and deep companionship. Ishmael had a love for the ocean, once describing it as one of the most beautiful creations he had ever seen. His infectious personality and warm spirit made him beloved by all who knew him. He was a family man who valued the time spent with his loved ones, and his presence will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 beginning at 12:00PM until 8:00PM at our Rockdale Chapel.
