Brenda Matthews-Kitt

Refection of Life Brenda Joyce Matthews was born on November 14, 1956, in Monroe, Louisiana to Maggie Matthews. Brenda and her older sister, Dorothy, were raised in a blessed and loving home by their mother along with their maternal grandparents, Willie and Lanis Matthews. She was surrounded with additional love from 2 aunts and 3 uncles of the home. Brenda’s mother later married Dortie Moore and blessed her with five additional siblings, Gregory Moore, Willie Robert Moore, Sharon Moore, Dortie Moore Jr. and Angela Moore. Brenda attended Grambling State University, Grambling, LA. and was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She graduated from Grambling State University with a degree in Accounting. Brenda moved to Kansas City, Missouri, after graduating and worked as an accountant for the American Heart Association (AHA). She later transferred to the Marietta, GA. branch of the AHA. It was in Georgia that Brenda met and married Kevin Kitt. Brenda and Kevin enjoyed traveling together. They built a home in Hoschton, GA., where they lived until their jobs led them to relocate to Garland, Texas, where they united with Mesquite Baptist Church, Mesquite, TX. Brenda retired as an accountant from Ryan LLC in April of 2024. After retiring, she and her husband were blessed to move back to their home in Hoschton, GA. earlier this year. Brenda peacefully transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 2, 2024. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie and Lanis Matthews, her mother, Maggie Moore, her brother, Gregory Moore, and a sister, Sharon Moore. She leaves behind to rejoice in the times they spent together, her loving husband, Kevin Kitt, sisters, Dorothy McDonald (Gary) of La Place, LA. and Angela Lee (Rufus) of Monroe, LA., brothers, Willie Robert Moore and Dortie Moore Jr. of Monroe, LA., aunt Edna Boyd of Ontario, CA., uncle Edward Matthews of Plano, Texas, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, close relatives and special friends. Brenda Matthews-Kitt, 68, of Hoschton, GA passed on Monday, December 2, 2024. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 11:00 AM at our Gwinnett Chapel 914 Scenic Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30045. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM at our Gwinnett Chapel 914 Scenic Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30045. Interment is private.
