Audrey Vermin Hinds

Audrey Hinds, born March 15, 1936 to Clifford Foster and EstreAnna Foster in Maroon Town, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. She spent her childhood and young adult years in Jamaica, attaining her education, cultivating skills while raising and nurturing her children Beverley, Trevor and Delroy (now deceased). During these years, Audrey was always known to be loyal, determined and a driving force for her family. At the age of 35, Audrey migrated to Canada in 1971, seizing the opportunity to provide even more for her family. A year later, she relocated to Bronx, New York, USA where she worked as a Nanny and Personal Care Assistant, devoting herself to helping those who were no longer able to help themselves. She performed her tasks with love and care. She was so devoted to her role as caregiver that she decided to hone her skills by attending nursing school, which would allow her to extend her reach and care to even more people. Audrey received her certificate in Nursing Assistant in 1982 then shortly after started working with the Hebrew Home for the Aged where she applied her knowledge, expertise and service for 25 years. Ultimately, she decided to be fully retired in 2015 at the age of 79. After retirement, Audrey dedicated her time and energy into her family and various church groups. She was constantly seeking a way to help and make a difference. In those moments she had her heart filled with joy and pride, especially when it involved her family with great specification to her grand and great grandchildren. She enjoyed making others laugh with her jokes, even when she wasn’t joking. Whenever those around her erupted in laughter, it was inevitable that everyone would end up laughing. She enjoyed the simple things in life like ironing, cooking delicious feasts for everyone to enjoy and catching up on her soap opera. Audrey was always known to be fierce, loyal, kind and a force to be reckoned with regarding her family and those she cared for. She is survived by her daughter Beverley and son Trevor, her grandchildren Kevin, Delroy, Victoria and Keryena, her great grandchildren Judah, Abigail, Nathan, Arielle, Abiel and Dario Tyrece. Her loss is also felt by her sisters Constantine, Rose, Paulette and Lorna, alongside countless nieces and nephews, cousins, other family and friends. For those who will be attending, in lieu of wearing black, the family is requesting to please wear purple, lavender, and/or white. Thank you. The Celebration of Life Service for Audrey Hinds will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM. This service will be recorded and streamed live.
